Abby thinks Dmitri understands & sometimes offers his opinion when she talks to him about each mystery. She owns Den of Antiquity antiques in Charlotte, NC; then sets up 2nd shop in Charlotte, SC & gets married (bk9-). #7/15+

Pie, a black, yellowed eye cat named after the cat in Bell, Book & Candle, is alone when her human is killed. Peggy Jean Turner, mayor & owner of her late husband's hardware store & son Nick give Pie a new home. Set in Cobb's Landing, a New England village like Williamsburg. Pie's cat hair points to the murderer. #1/3+

Mao Tse, a large black Persian with an imperial attitude, is the love of Leigh Koslow's life. Leigh is a 30 something advertising copywriter who lives in the borough of Pittsburgh, Avalon, overlooking the Ohio River. #1/5.

Thumbs may be a descendent of the famous Ernest Hemingway polydactyl cats. Based on a real cat, Thumbs has 6 toes on his front paws. Boy Cat Zukas is a black alley tom who makes his home on Helma Zukas’ 3rd floor balcony & is allowed inside as far as the wicker basket just inside the patio door. Miss Zukas, a public librarian in Bellehaven, Wash., doesn’t really want a cat, therefore the name Boy Cat to satisfy the Vet. Police Chief

Prozac is a 12 lb., green-eyed fur-ball who always wants to be fed, loves napping on a cashmere sweater, & is missing a few of her teeth. Jaine Austen, a writer-for-hire, makes a home for them in Los Angelos, south of Wilshire Blvd. the “wrong” side of Beverly Hills. Mrs. Parnell’s Cat is the only “name” given to this calico. Camilla MacPhee, a 32 year old short, stocky, dark haired attorney & victim’s advocate living in Ottawa’s St. Jim’s Parish give Mrs. Parnell the kitten in gratitude for saving her life, however, Camilla usually feds the cat & lets her sleep on her bed. Mrs. Parnell has 2 peach-faced love birds “Lester & Pierre”. #1/5+

Hodge bears the same name as Dr. Samuel Johnson’s cat. He is a black & gray tabby. Boswell comes on the scene in book 2. She is also a black/gray tabby that Agatha names Boswell to keep up the literary references despite the cat’s gender. Agatha Raisin, age 53, retires early from a PR firm and moves to the quaint English village of Carsely in the Cotswolds in the Midlands. #2/16+

Abigail is a large (“bottomless pit with 4 legs”) 10 yr old brown/silver tabby with green eyes who mainly sleeps & hunts her yellow yarn mouse. Black Bart, a B&W feral kitten with an uneven white mask across his yellow eyes joins Abigail in books 5-9. He likes to sleep in the linen closet among the towels. They share a home with Jeri Howard, a 33 yr old, self-employed P.I. in Oakland, CA. #1/9.

Peter came with the Apartment that 24 yr. old Rachel O’Connor rents in Blossom, OR. Peter is a grey-striped, green eyed ex-stray with chewed ears who spends most of his time in the landlady’s rose garden watching the chickadees. Rachel runs her own landscaping business & loves policeman Jeff Price who she knew in HS in this delightful series of 4 gardening mysteries with landscaping tips. #1/4.

Chakkri, the only Siamese in 1805/06 Regency England is a gift by an emissary of Siam who thinks the cat, like Beau Brummell, enjoys the finer things in life. Chakkri is Master & Supreme Ruler of the Brummell household. Her kittens, Gin, a seal-point & Sherry, a blue point are in books 13-20. Stilts & Shadow, 2 seal-point Siamese appear in the last 2 books of the series (25-26). #15/26.
