	Sherlock Holmes (1922) (Silent) Buy new: $22.49 / Used from: $14.06 The first feature film about the great detective with the great John Barrymore has recently been restored for DVD. Based on the play by William Gillette.
	Sherlock Holmes - The Hound of the Baskervilles Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $9.74 The first of the Rathbone-Bruce films from 1939 set the pattern for a sequel (below) and 12 B movies in the 1940s (which won't be included here).
	The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes Buy new: $15.49 / Used from: $7.99 20th Century Fox's follow up to HOUND features Holmes -vs- Moriarty and a plot to steal the Crown Jewels. The film showcases a young Ida Lupino.
	The Hound of the Baskervilles Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $4.35 Hammer Film's 1959 remake of the 1939 Fox film features Peter Cushing as Holmes and Christopher Lee (not as Watson). It comes up with a very different conclusion.
	Study in Terror [VHS] Buy used from: $9.93 This surprisingly good 1966 effort (with a young Judi Dench) is the first Holmes film to deal with Jack the Ripper. It's also the only one not yet on DVD.
	The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $2.47 Billy Wilder's 1970 take on Holmes & Watson was a flop when it was first released and was cut by the studio but now it has been restored for DVD and is much more highly regarded.
	They Might Be Giants Buy used from: $87.95 This forgotten 1971 film features one of Scott's best performances as a deluded lawyer who believes he's Holmes with Joanne Woodward as his psychiatrist, Dr Watson.
	The Seven-Per-Cent Solution Buy used from: $69.86 Nicholas Meyer's 1976 meeting of Holmes with Sigmund Freud based on his book was a stroke of genius. Unfortunately the DVD is out of print and for now is VERY expensive.
	The Hound of the Baskervilles Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $1.75 Peter Cook & Dudley Moore's 1978 take on the super sleuth is certainly not up to their best work but it has it's moments especially if you enjoy them.
	Murder by Decree Buy used from: $24.74 Considered by many to be the finest Sherlock Holmes feature film. This 1979 second go at Jack the Ripper features an amazing cast and a most interesting solution.
	Young Sherlock Holmes Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $2.93 A fascinating variation on Holmes and Watson with this one resembling the early Harry Potter films. Produced by Steven Spielberg in 1985.
	The Great Mouse Detective Buy used from: $7.95 Sherlock Holmes is given the Disney treatment in 1986 and it works rather well with Vincent Price as the voice of the villain. Based on the book BASIL OF BAKER STREET.
	Without a Clue Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $7.58 This 1988 comedy came and went but with Caine and Kingsley you can't go wrong. Holmes is an actor this time around hired by Dr Watson.
