	Mahler: Symphonies No. 1 & No. 2; Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen by Bruno Walter Buy new: $15.98 / Used from: $12.37 Classic, reference recordings of both works, however the 1 for me is just about ideal.
	Mahler 3: Bach Suite Buy new: $18.98 / Used from: $12.99 One of the highlights of what's probably the best modern cycle (pace Gielen and Bertini). The first movement in particular, is terrific.
	Mahler: Symphony No. 4 in G Buy used from: $5.19 From another world of Mahler interpretation, a uniquely moving experience, a clear-sighted and comprehensive interpretation allied to a wonderfully responsive and characterful performance by the LPO.
	Mahler: Symphony No. 5 Buy new: $16.98 / Used from: $5.23 Self-recommending...but to put it simply, Bernstein unparalleled in his comprehensive understanding of the work, and the VPO's playing is little short of miraculous.
	Mahler: Symphony No. 6; Zemlinsky: 6 Maeterlink-Lieder Buy new: $53.99 / Used from: $15.88 Slightly expensive, but then again my other choice here, Gielen is equally so. Perhaps a controversial choice, but for me this is a 6th to live with, fabulous playing, a compelling and satisfying interpretation by Chailly.
	Mahler: Symphony No. 7 Buy new: $7.98 / Used from: $5.25 More Mahler from Bernstein, this time from his earlier NYPO cycle. As with his 5th, although possibly to a lesser extent, a uniquely comprehensive inpretation. Also, with regard to the controversial finale, uniquely satisfying.
	Mahler: Symphony No.8 [Germany] Buy used from: $16.00 Not a favourite work of mine, I have to say, this performance appeals to me more than any other, due mainly to the wonderfully natural musicianship of Kubelik. Sound is a little dated.
	Mahler: Symphony No. 9 by Gustav Mahler Buy used from: $12.99 A sentimental favourite, and a unique moment in time, the Berliners seemingly entranced by Barbirolli's leadership and offering up some wonderfully beautiful playing. Barbirolli himself, of course, one of the very greatest inpreters of this symphony.
	Mahler 9 [Hybrid SACD] Buy new: $18.98 / Used from: $15.18 This recent recording should satisfy as an alternative recommendation, again wonderful playing and perhaps uniquely insightful in terms of the sound world of the piece.
