Buy new: $16.47 / Used from: $11.78 Mercedes Thompson is probably my top favorite fictional character. She's a VW mechanic that can shapeshift into a coyote. Other supernatural creatures include werewolves, vampires, and the fae. Lots of Stefan in this one, for the Stefan fans! (MEEE!!!)

The most recent has brothers Cal and Niko fighting the Auphe, the supernatural baddies they have been running from for most of their lives. Oh and by the way, Cal is half-Auphe. Bring on the angst!

Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $0.01 Not an urban fantasy, but still my favorite from Kelley Armstrong. Her other books are good, too. This one is the BEST. (IMHO!) Nadia Stafford is a hitman (hitwoman) and she's pretty kick butt. (And Jack is pretty awesome, too.)

P.S. Get the audiobook if you can, the voice actor does a fantastic job.

 | Ill Wind (Weather Warden, Book 1) by Rachel Caine
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $1.25 This is the only book of the series I have read so far and it kind of took me by surprise - I wasn't expecting it to be so good and I ended staying up all night to finish it. Ill Wind is a chase book and the pace is pretty frantic from beginning to end. I found the main character, Joanne Baldwin, to be fun in a Rachel Morgan kind of way.

Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $2.31 My favorite book in the Rachel Morgan series. Rachel herself can be a somewhat annoying character, because she is constantly flinging herself into trouble. Sometimes it's funny and cute, but a lot of the time it's just irritating. However, there is enough good here that I keep reading. This book has a lot of Al and he is my favorite thing in the series.

The show was enjoyable and addictive (in a low budget, culty way) but as is the way with these things, the books are far better. Blood Trail is my favorite in the series, because of the shapeshifters, but all the books are good. Vicki Nelson is a FANTASTIC character.
