![]() | Our Man in Havana (Penguin Classics) by Graham Greene
Buy new: $10.20 / Used from: $6.20 One of Graham Greene's entertainment novels, this is a fun read. If you want to sample Greene, you need to read one of his entertainment novels. This one is a good choice if you're only going to read one in that category of his.

![]() | The End of the Affair (Penguin Classics Deluxe Edition) by Graham Greene
Buy new: $10.20 / Used from: $1.12 This is one of my two favorite Graham Greene novels. It's not a "feel good" novel, but it's a compelling read.

![]() | Brighton Rock by Graham Greene
Buy new: $10.88 / Used from: $4.00 This is one of my Graham Greene's first novels. It's passionate and romantic, but has no sappy fluff. It has a feel of real life, a genuineness that defines good modern literature.

![]() | The Heart of the Matter: (Penguin Classics Deluxe Edition) by Graham Greene
Buy new: $10.88 / Used from: $4.20 This is my other favorite novel by Graham Greene. I think it's the core of what a Graham Greene novel can be and what it is to be human.

![]() | Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh
Buy new: $10.19 / Used from: $0.01 Evelyn Waugh was a friend of Graham Greene. While they may have influenced each other's writing, their styles are fairly different. This is one of the most serious of Waugh's works, but I think it was his best novel.

![]() | Howards End (Penguin Twentieth-Century Classics) by E. M. Forster
Buy new: $7.91 / Used from: $2.98 What a work of art this book is. The writing is so splendid, it makes me want to give up writing: I can't imagine ever writing this well. Forster's "Howards End" ranks up there with Shakespeare--in a way, it's better than anything Shakespeare wrote, to me. This novel was a pleasure to read; the words were like listening to Mozart.
