![]() | Lite-on-Shoulder Pouch/rings Hybrid Baby Sling(Lucky Peony)
I didn't get this particular one but a similar one. Both my husband and I used it every day during the first two months. By far the most useful baby item we had. Wearing your baby makes her happy--I promise!

![]() | Ergo Baby Carrier Blue / Tartan
The ergo baby carrier is by far our favorite. We both wore our 10motnh old all around Tokyo for 2 weeks in hot humid weather--she slept great and our backs didn't hurt. Now, at 17 mos, we still use it all the time and it makes a stroller seem ridiculous.

![]() | BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier Original - City Black
Buy new: $52.50 We got an older one of these used and it's been invaluable, esp when she was 4-6 mos old and able to hold her head up well.
|
![]() | Lamaze Freddie the Firefly
Buy new: $10.99 I have no idea who gave us this but it's our daughter's favorite toy by far at 6 mos and has been for at least since she was 3 mos old. She hardly plays with anything else.
|
![]() | Whoozit
Buy new: $12.99 This is our daughter's other favorite toy. No sharp edges, no noises, but hours of fun.
|
![]() | Imse Vimse Bumpy Soft Cloth Diaper Cover - Newborn (6.5-13 lbs)
Buy new: $12.50 These are some of the best cloth diaper covers. Soft and yet sturdy, they hold up well to washing. Use with the flushable liners on prefold diapers to make washing pooed out diapers easier.
|
![]() | Imse Vimse Flushable Liner (2PK) 200 pieces/2 rolls (Baby)
Buy new: $11.60 These liners protect prefold diapers from poo. Useful once your child is older and pooing is more predictable.
|
![]() | Imse Vimse Unbleached Flannel Cloth Wipes (12 count)
Buy new: $11.35 Making your own diaper wipes is easy, economical, and environmentally friendly--just imagine all those diaper wipe tubs filling landfills. Get a few dozen flannel wipes, an empty wipe tub, and a recipe for the lotion (online somewhere, using essential oils) and you can quickly make up a few days' worth of wipes. You do have to wash them but I just toss them in with the diapers or baby clothes.
|
![]() | SafeFit Baby In Sight
Buy new: $10.00 You'll want a mirror so you can see your rear-facing baby in the car. This is the best of the mirrors--it attaches to the back of the seat in front of baby and it's big enough so you can see easily if your baby's eyes are open, without your having to squint in the rearview mirror to make out the tiny reflection from the other, window-attached mirrors.
|
![]() | bumGenius 3.0 One-Size Cloth Diaper
Buy new: $16.50 - $17.95 These are great all-in-one diapers. They're so much like disposables that daycare providers and others won't say "ick" to cloth diapers. A little more money but worth it.
|
![]() | Evenflo Exersaucer Mega Circus
We have an older one of these and it's been great to keep her occupied at 4-6 mos old. Don't worry about getting one with bells and whistles--the plainer, the better. She spends long minutes each day playing with the "primitive" toys on our used one.
|
![]() | Flip Video Camcorder: 60-Minutes (White)
Buy used from: $129.99 This super easy-to-use tiny digital camera was a gift from my husband when our daughter was 1 month old. I kept it handy and believe it or not, I got her first roll over on it. We love it so much we've recommended it to friends. It's not fancy and you can't zoom much, but it's easy to use and easy to upload (via USB) to your computer.

![]() | Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child by Marc Weissbluth
Buy new: $10.88 / Used from: $1.06 This book is not perfect--it's badly organized and I disagree with some of the advice about letting babies cry. However, it has very valuable information on babies of different ages' sleep cycles. I was amazed to see that our daughter fit the pattern he described for a 4 mos old--a baby who needs to go back to sleep about 1 hour after he/she wakes up. Good information, but don't use it as a Bible.
|
![]() | Fisher-Price Space Saver High Chair - Tan
Buy new: $49.98 We got this chair b/c it was inexpensive and space-saving--it sits right on a chair you already have. It's been perfect, and I can't imagine wanting or needing a bigger highchair.
