Jimmy Smith was loyal to the Hammond B-3 in his entire career, but he had some weak moments recording with Wersi, Lowrey and the digital Hammond New B-3 organs - reasons were $$$. Since The Cat strikes again his chords on a terrible sounding Wersi organ with his usual technical superiority supported by enjoyable big band charts by the great Lalo Schifrin. Just for Jimmy Smith completion's only!

Joey D's first album using the Diversi Duo Plus organ - a low priced digital B-3 replica, where Joey is part owner and designer. Great recording and tunes played by this group, but the organ is just WRONG!! 5 stars for the performance, 1 star for the organ.

Jimmy McGriff wasn't trying to reinvent the wheel for jazz organ the last 20 years, he rather matured his own bluesy organ style using the digital Hammond XB-3 organ. "Feelin It" adds up known sidemen like Newman, Cuber, Sparks and Purdie is various setting, this "A team" have sounded better before.

Free Spirits - great power organ trio headed by McLaughlin, Chambers and DeFrancesco, who on this live date pull the stops on a digital Hammond XB-3.

I would have loved this album just by knowing that Joey was playing the original B-3. Again, on his second album using the Diversi Duo Plus, great musicianship from this US/Italian combo.

We have missed Trudy Pitts for too many years (remember her great Prestige recordings?? She is back on the digital Hammond New B-3 organ on this live date. Great return album.

One of the most obscure and funky albums released on Prestige by Holmes, yet playing a Hammond X-66 or H100 console organ (my assumptions), since these organ we're introduced as the B-3 replacements in 1965-67 by the Hammond organ company. Of course they never succeed.
