Artemis Fowl (Artemis Fowl, Book 1)Artemis Fowl (Artemis Fowl, Book 1) by Eoin Colfer
Buy new: $5.99 / Used from: $0.01
This is one of my all time favorite book series. If you havn't read this one then you are missing out on a great fantasy/action story with lots of humor. A five star book. I love Eoin Colfer's style of writting.
Point Blank (Alex Rider Adventure)Point Blank (Alex Rider Adventure) by Anthony Horowitz
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01
Spys, mysteries, neat gadgets, and lots and lots of action. The action starts right off and just keeps going till the end.
Raven's Gate (The Gatekeepers)Raven's Gate (The Gatekeepers) by Anthony Horowitz
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01
A great sci-fi/horror (mostly just sci-fi and action. I put horror down because it grossed my sister out on one part.) If you like withches, kids with magical powers, and a great story of good vs evil then this is the book for you.
The Demonata #1: Lord Loss: Book 1 in the Demonata seriesThe Demonata #1: Lord Loss: Book 1 in the Demonata series by Darren Shan
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $0.96
Now this is a horror. This book has a great story line and kept my interest. I was a little put off by the cover, but eventually got around to reading it and was glad that I did. I should warn you though, it is kind of gory at times. Seeing as the author goes into great detail of what a couple of people's bodies looked like after the demons were through with them. Yikes! A great story.
Cirque Du Freak #1: A Living Nightmare: Book 1 in the Saga of Darren Shan (Cirque Du Freak: The Saga of Darren Shan)Cirque Du Freak #1: A Living Nightmare: Book 1 in the Saga of Darren Shan (Cirque Du Freak: The Saga of Darren Shan) by Darren Shan
Buy used from: $10.83
This is a great one about vampires. I would say that it was a sci-fi, mystery, action mix but (since it was written by the same author as Lord Loss it dose tend to be a bit descriptive at times but not so much) I enjoyed reading this one immensely and would recomend it to you who like a good (and very realistic)vampire tale.
Half Moon InvestigationsHalf Moon Investigations by Eoin Colfer
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01
I picked this one up because it was written by Eoin Colfer, hoping that it would turn out to be just as good as Artemis Fowl. Although not quite as good, I still loved it. It is more for the younger audience but I read it anyway. I love a good detective story.
The Falcon's Malteser (Diamond Brother Mysteries)The Falcon's Malteser (Diamond Brother Mysteries) by Anthony Horowitz
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $0.01
Like half-moon Investigations, I picked this one up because it was written by Anthony Horowitz. The first one is a little slow but, hey if it kept my interest...I would say that this book is, beyond anything, a hilarious mystery story. If you want a good laugh, this is for you.
Faerie WarsFaerie Wars by Herbie Brennan
Buy new: $13.46 / Used from: $0.29
This was an ok tale about a boy who saves a fearie world. It was slow going and, I'll admit, I only read Henery's parts because I started getting bored halfway through it. The first book sets up everything for the next ones so, although this one was kinda boring, the next one was better.
Sorcerers of the Nightwing: Book 1: The Ravenscliff SeriesSorcerers of the Nightwing: Book 1: The Ravenscliff Series by Geoffrey Huntington
Buy used from: $1.30
I really liked this one. It is a sci-fi with lots of action. The style of writting gets some getting used to though. Almost like someone's telling you it as they see it happen. But don't let that put you off, it really is a great and entertaining read. My only coment to the author would be... "Where in the world is the third one!"
Eragon (Inheritance)Eragon (Inheritance) by Christopher Paolini
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $1.87
This is a good story about a boy and a dragon who save the world. Yeah the same old same old, but this one is actually good. I would recommend it to you fantasy fans.
The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 1)The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 1) by Rick Riordan
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $1.00
Combine greek mythology, action, mystery, and humor with a great storyline and you will get 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians'. This is another one of my favorites. A must read!
The Ruins of Gorlan (The Ranger's Apprentice, Book 1)The Ruins of Gorlan (The Ranger's Apprentice, Book 1) by John Flanagan
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01
This is another one of my all time fvorite books ever made. I absolutely loved it! I highly recommend it.
Mister Monday (Keys to the Kingdom, Book 1)Mister Monday (Keys to the Kingdom, Book 1) by Garth Nix
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $0.01
Becides the fact that the main character is 12 years old I really liked this Fantasy book series.
Midnight for Charlie Bone (The Children of the Red King, Book 1)Midnight for Charlie Bone (The Children of the Red King, Book 1) by Jenny Nimmo
Buy new: $9.35 / Used from: $0.12
Yes, I would say that this started of as a kind of copy cat of Harry Potter but I am pleased to say that it, slowly but surely, is getting out from under Harry's shadow and is creating an entertaining book series all on it's own. It's for the younger audience but I got desperate for something to read one day and picked this up.
The Wild One (Phantom Stallion #1)The Wild One (Phantom Stallion #1) by Terri Farley
Buy new: $4.99 / Used from: $0.01
If you love horses then this is the book series for you. They are really short, read it in one sitting, kind of books but good none the less.
Warriors #1: Into the Wild (summer reading)Warriors #1: Into the Wild (summer reading) by Erin Hunter
Buy used from: $0.72
You guessed it! This one is about four clans of warrior cats! I love cats so when my sister bought this I picked it up and read it. I would say that it is in the action category. A great read!
The Merchant of Death (Pendragon Series #1)The Merchant of Death (Pendragon Series #1) by D.J. MacHale
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $0.01
When I first started reading this book I only got so far but then got bored and stopped. One day I picked it up again and this time, I finished it. It may have started out slow but it sure didn't end that way! This is now one of my three all time favorite books. A must read! Just get passed the begining.
Castaways of the Flying DutchmanCastaways of the Flying Dutchman by Brian Jacques
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $0.01
I don't think this is really a series but since it has two other follow-ups I decided to put it down anyway. This is a great story for all ages. I really liked it.
The Great Tree of Avalon 1: Child of the Dark ProphecyThe Great Tree of Avalon 1: Child of the Dark Prophecy by T. A. Barron
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.71
This is a fantasy story that takes place years and years after Merlin. I thought that it was very good. A great fantasy read.
Maximum Ride : The Angel Experiment (Teen's Top 10 (Awards))Maximum Ride : The Angel Experiment (Teen's Top 10 (Awards)) by James Patterson
Buy used from: $5.75
A book that takes place in now a days time and is completely non fictional except for one thing...the kids have wings and are destined to save the world. They just havn't figured out how yet. Another good book series. I originally put this one in this list before I had finished the series, but now that I have i'm not so sure that I would recomend it anymore. The last book was terrible.
The Lost Years of MerlinThe Lost Years of Merlin by T. A. Barron
Buy new: $4.98 / Used from: $0.01
I think we've all read in some book or another about the legendary wizard Merlin. Well this series tells Merlins story.
Gregor The Overlander (Underland Chronicles)Gregor The Overlander (Underland Chronicles) by Suzanne Collins
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $0.01
This was written for the younger audience but I enjoyed reading it anyway.
Leven Thumps and the Gateway to FooLeven Thumps and the Gateway to Foo by Obert Skye
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $0.56
This was a really interesting story that puts a new veiw on fantasy, particularly on how I look at a tree.(and a toothpick for that matter) Hehe. Read it and you'll figure out what I'm talking about. Great story, though I heard the second one isn't as good. I wouldn't know, as I havn't read it yet.
The Last Apprentice (Revenge of the Witch)The Last Apprentice (Revenge of the Witch) by Joseph Delaney
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.08
I just started getting into this series. I read the first and, although it was a little different, I liked it. After I went and read the next which turned out to be even better then the first. Can't wait till the third one comes out.
The Young Bond Series, Book One: Silverfin (A James Bond Adventure)The Young Bond Series, Book One: Silverfin (A James Bond Adventure) by Charlie Higson
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $0.01
You've probably heard of James Bond. Well this series, corectly named, 'the Young Bond Adventures' is about James when he was younger. 14 to be exact. If you like adventure then this is the book for you. I really liked it.
AirbornAirborn by Kenneth Oppel
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01
This isn't a series but it has a sequel (Skybreaker) and both are very good. It takes place in its own time. Sorta a mix between the victorian age and now-a-days. For instance. The rich women still wear corsets but everyone gets around on air ships. It is a really interesting and (at times) hilarious book.
Tithe: A Modern Faerie TaleTithe: A Modern Faerie Tale by Holly Black
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $1.65
This was kind of diferent but if your desperate for something to read then this is it. I wouldn't rate it the best of books because of how long it takes to get going. But once it gets going it is pretty good.
The Wizard TestThe Wizard Test by Hilari Bell
Buy used from: $0.01
This is not a series nor (sadly) does it have a sequel. I put it on my list because it is such a good book. I love Hilari Bell's style of writting and her characters are always very likable. If your looking for a good short book to read then you should read her books.
The Saint of DragonsThe Saint of Dragons by Jason Hightman
Buy used from: $0.01
This one is about dragons who can disguise themselves with magic to look like people and the only ones who can see through their shield is the desendents of Saint George. The main character is one such desendant who teams up with the father he hasn't seen in years and hunts for the dragons.
The Extraordinary Adventures of Alfred KroppThe Extraordinary Adventures of Alfred Kropp by Rick Yancey
Buy new: $6.78 / Used from: $3.86
I almost forgot this one. I actually checked this one out at the library, started reading it, then got bored and put it down. Later, I picked it up again and got past the begining. From then on I was hooked. Can't wait for the sequel! I really like this series.
The Last Knight (Knight and Rogue)The Last Knight (Knight and Rogue) by Hilari Bell
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $1.97
I really enjoyed this one. It is about a young man who takes to being a knight-errant. Nothing wrong with that except that knights don't exist anymore. This was a hilarious action story that I would highly recommend.
Homeland: The Dark Elf Trilogy, Part 1 (Forgotten Realms: The Legend of Drizzt, Book I) (Bk. 1)Homeland: The Dark Elf Trilogy, Part 1 (Forgotten Realms: The Legend of Drizzt, Book I) (Bk. 1) by R. A. Salvatore
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $1.90
Now that I am 17 I have been looking for more challanging books to read and so have been looking in the adult section. I was looking for a good read that didn't contain any content that I would rather be on the other side of a closed door for. I think I found a winner in this book series about a elf who's race is evil though he is not.
The Name of the Wind (Kingkiller Chronicles, Day 1)The Name of the Wind (Kingkiller Chronicles, Day 1) by Patrick Rothfuss
Buy new: $10.88 / Used from: $7.48
I absolutely love this book. It is about a man who was once a powerful wizard, but something happened that changed that. You, as the reader, don't know what it is. This book takes place in both 3rd and 1st person. This is one of my top three favorite books.
Neversfall: The CitadelsNeversfall: The Citadels by Ed Gentry
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $0.74
Although there is a series, this is also a stand alone book and one that I enjoyed reading. It adds non-stop action with an intersting mystery and creates a great book.
Swordmage: Blade of the Moonsea, Book I (Blades of Moonsea)Swordmage: Blade of the Moonsea, Book I (Blades of Moonsea) by Richard Baker
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $2.81
This one also combinds a good mystery with lots of action. I really liked the main character in this story and can't wait to read the next!
Isle of SwordsIsle of Swords by Wayne Thomas Batson
Buy used from: $11.21
I thought that this was an interesting book, though I wouldn't rate it high on my favorites list. I picked it up when I didn't have anything else to read. Interesting though. If you find yourself in want of a book to read than I would recommend this.
The Stowaway: Stone of Tymora, Book IThe Stowaway: Stone of Tymora, Book I by R.A. Salvatore
Buy new: $9.95 / Used from: $15.21
I picked this one up because it was written by the same author who wrote Homeland. It is written kind of differently but I still liked it.
The Legend of Darien: A Hero RisesThe Legend of Darien: A Hero Rises by Lauren C. Mayher
Buy new: $12.95 / Used from: $7.50
This was also a hilarious book and one that I highly recommend. I'll admit that I wasn't liking it too much when I started reading it, but it's one of those that you just have to get passed the beginning.
Wizard's First Rule (The Sword of Truth)Wizard's First Rule (The Sword of Truth) by Terry Goodkind
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $3.35
A verrrrrrry slow moving book. The beginning was pretty fast paced but there is a lot in the middle that, I think, could have been edited a little better. I've also heard that the series ends badly... guess I'll have to see.
The Unsuspecting Mage: Book One Of The Morcyth SagaThe Unsuspecting Mage: Book One Of The Morcyth Saga by Brian S. Pratt
Buy new: $18.95 / Used from: $43.30
The idea for this book was great. I havn't read it in a while but I seem to recall that it was pretty fast paced. I also rememver liking it a lot. I'm on the third one right now.
