![]() | Napa: The Story of an American Eden by James Conaway
Buy new: $10.88 / Used from: $1.83 One of my favorite nonfiction books of all time, this is a must read.

![]() | The Far Side of Eden: New Money, Old Land, and the Battle for Napa Valley by James Conaway
Buy new: $10.17 / Used from: $0.56 More from one of my favorite nonfiction authors. I only wish he would write a third book about Napa!

![]() | Judgment of Paris: California vs. France and the Historic 1976 Paris Tasting That Revolutionized Wine by George M Taber
Buy new: $11.52 / Used from: $3.72 A great read, and an even more fabulous story. Enthusiastically recommend.
|
![]() | A Tale of Two Valleys: Wine, Wealth and the Battle for the Good Life in Napa and Sonoma by Alan Deutschman
Buy new: $14.40 / Used from: $1.93 Humorous, fun and real. Highly recommended. A bit more on the gossipy side. But good gossip.

![]() | Zin: The History And Mystery Of Zinfandel by David Darlington
Buy new: $16.00 / Used from: $0.12 Formerly called Angels' Visits. We now know, thanks to genetic research and Mike Grgich, that Zinfandel is not a native California vine, but that doesn't detract from this charming book's delicious narrative. Darlington has a way with the written word. This book will leave you wanting more.
|
![]() | Sparkling Harvest: The Seasons of the Vine by Jack Davies
Buy used from: $0.91 Schramsberg is one of Napa's best spots and this is one of the few books to focus on a single vintner, who remains one of the valley's classic and family-owned wineries.
|
![]() | Bottle Shock
Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $3.44 A hilarious sendup, a sort of low-brow telling of the Paris Tasting tale (highly embellished for an American movie audience), this campy wine film is fun from start to finish. Of course, Alan Rickman's character vastly overexaggerates, but then this whole movie is over the top. It's fun. I'm going to buy it.
|
![]() | Mondovino
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $6.79 The best wine film documentary. It gets right to the heart of things. The interviews with the Mondavis are frightening. Yes, they're just awful and commercial, but don't think that all of Napa's wine country is this way. It's not. Not at all. You will be rewarded by seeking out the other growers - see the Conaway book for more about the "other growers."
