An exciting action-adventure story centered around a booby-trapped island housing a mysterious treasure. It starts off kinda slow, but once the story moves to the island, the pace picks up considerably.

The start of the Pendergast series. A mysterious presence is wreaking havoc in the NYC museum, decapitating the staff & visitors alike. Pendergast is an awesome character who only gets better & better as the series progress'.

My favorite non-Pendergast book in the series. An expedition into the desert to find a lost tribe turns terrifiying as the group must not only face the dangerous elements, but must also contend w/ a group of "Skinwalkers" who are hunting them. A great horror-tinged adventure story. Favorite scene: The climax in the dark, abandoned city as the survivors are hunted down by the Skinwalkers.

My favorite in the Pendergast series. Pendergast arrives in a midwestern town where a ritualistic killer is murdering people in the wheat fields. The dark, gothic atmosphere is prevalent on every page of this gruesome mystery w/ a high body count & plenty of chase scenes. Favorite scene: A search party is violently slaughtered in a maze of underground caves.

Pendergast's evil brother appears & sets a plan into motion to destroy him. To do so, he begins murdering those closest to Pendergast. This book is focused more on action/ suspense rather than mystery, but the result is a thrilling ride that includes most of the main characters from the authors' previous Pendergast books.

When a priceless Tibetan artifact is stolen, Pendergast & Constance end up on an extravigant cruise ship to find the thief. A gruesome killer, crazed ship captain & a ghostly presence bring about the appearance of Pendergast's dark side as he tries to solve the mystery. A very enjoyable & quickly paced story. Favorite scene: The ship goes out of control, heading for disaster & utter chaos ensues.

In a peaceful college town, there's something lurking in the shadows, ambushing people & literally ripping them apart. Engaging & violent, if not exactly sophisticated, creature feature with a truly whacked-out ending.

When two sisters return to a small, isolated mountain town to bond, they're horrified to discover that everyone is either dead or have vanished into thin air. Together w/ some local cops & scientists, they must fight a mysterious presence or become its next conquest. A very creepy & freaky story that reminds me a lot of the Silent Hill series.

In the search for some lost scientists, an underground govt. facility is attacked by fearsome T-rex type creatures. Fun, 'Journey to the Center of the Earth' style story is slightly marred by the underwhelming lost civiliztion aspect that takes too much time away from the action. Favorite scene: The exciting climax at the ruined govt. facility.

An archeological dig in South America uncovers a hidden temple that houses an extraodinary treasure. The temple itself is a booby-trapped doorway to a darker secret. Soon, a group of students & mercinaries are trapped in the temple. A great action/adventure tale with a strange origin of the treasure. Favorite scene: The students are attacked in a dark, underground necropolis.

The search for a moon rock w/ mysterious powers leads an escaped convict to take a group of scientists hostage in a massive underground cave system. While the scientists try to escape their captors, a rescue party is sent in to help. Action packed book w/ some thrilling chase scenes & set pieces in the labyrinthine caves.

Violets are psychics w/ violet eyes that can be possessed by the dead. Some help the police to solve murders while others use their powers for their own needs. Soon, there's a killer who's murdering the Violets one by one. Cool twist to an overused genre w/ some really interesting ideas. Favorite scene: One of the Violets is violently attacked at his work.

Natalie, a Violet, is called into the desert to use her powers to find a long lost treasure. Little does she know, the men looking for the treasure are killers who will stop at nothing to get what they want. Focusing more on action/ adventure than the previous books, this reminded me a lot of 'Thunderhead'. Favorite scene: Natalie sets up a trap in a temple for her persuers w/ gruesome results.

In Chicago, a serial killer is targeting female college students. Unable to find a link between the victims, the police turn to a female psychic for help & inadvertently put her in the killer's path. Interesting mystery w/ a low body count but a suspenseful story. The link that ties the victims together is interesting & different from the usual serial killer motive.

Soon after the drowning of a young girl, those who've wronged her or her family begin dying in gruesome ways at the hand of her ghost, who appears in the form of the Snow Queen. Awesome ghost/slasher story w/ a very fairy tale feel to it. The atmosphere is thick & the gory murders happen often. Favorite scene: One of the sisters & a man are chased through the woods by the monstrous Snow Queen.

On a farm in Ireland, the bones of 11 murdered woman are found in a mass grave. As the police investigate, a copycat killer appears, skinning women & keeping them alive until the very end. Dark, gruesome mystery w/ the murders so graphic it gave me the chills. I loved the "is it supernatural...or not?" ending that leaves it up to the reader to decide.

A masked killer is terrorizing Canada, beheading women from all walks of life. Det. DeClerq is brought in to put a stop to the madness & in the process is almost consumed by it. Dark & brutal slasher that keeps the reader interested despite the uninteresting trips into the past. The identity of the killer is unknown until the very last page, and it's a shocker.

The small, isolated town of Eternity has been terrorized by a serial killer...for over a century. A new sheriff is brought in to stop the killer & is hidered by the town's eccentric citizens. Really fun & exciting slasher w/ a high body count(13+) & interesting characters. The snowy environment adds a lot of suspense to the proceedings.
