The death of Aslan scene can be frightening for the younger kids, but this movie provides a springboard for deep discussion. Oh, and the four-disc set is well worth it!

I was amazed that the four kids I live with actually enjoyed this whole movie - they usually watch Spongebob and monster movies on Sci-Fi! Lesson: don't underestimate the power of classics, even for today's kids.

I was pleasantly surprised when I finally watched it - it's a lot of fun for kids and grown-ups of all ages.

 | The Adventures of Pete & Pete - Season 1
Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $9.80 This television show is a classic. I've watched a few of my old shows recently and this is one of the few that is still enjoyable now that I'm older. I don't think there has ever been a show quite like it - it is nothing like the standard "kid sit-coms" on Nick and Disney these days.

Buy new: $7.49 / Used from: $0.99 My little sister and I watched this movie all the time. I have yet to find a child who is not enthralled by the adventures of these adorable animals. It's an amazingly well-done movie.

 | Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Original Series (Volume 1)
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $4.43 If you know kids who are interested in the latest incarnations of the Ninja Turtles (whether the TMNT movie or the cartoon on Fox) show them the original. These cartoons are much more light-hearted and fun than the new ones.
