There is something so ethereal about this record. It could be Junior's falsetto. It could be that the music was looped thru Lee Scratch Perry's frontal lobes.

I read somewhere that the group were a little shaken up by Scratch's genius being unleashed on their songs. They were hoping for something a bit more conventional. Is that true? I'm sure time healed all wounds, because this record is considered an all time classic. Rightly so!

Robbie's deceptively simple bass line that begins the melody of Youth of Eglington which begins the disc Red is a great way to begin a big love for Black Uhuru. Make sense? Listen to it and it will.

Every collection should contain at least 2 or 3 of Ras Michael's releases. If not, shame on you!

Grab it! Before this deluxe version disappears. Very nicely done. In a way this little round orb plays like a best of disc. That extra classic.

Burning Spear is never a weak moment. Burning Spear never lends his ear to the trendy fads going on. His voice is always his, nobody elses, not his producer or the critics. As always, all good.

One of the strongest from the tall thin man. Could be because of the fat riddim from Sly and Robbie.

Deja Vu, there is something old timey lost in these grooves. Take some time to find it.

So many of Dennis Brown's treasures have been dug up. Doesn't help that Mr. Brown recorded for most of his short life. Make matters worse, they all sound good too, so which one? I choose the Blood and Fire collection over the rest because they're one label that's devoted to giving the artist the Royal treatment. So pamper your ears with this one.

Not necessarily my favorite from them, I like all their early works equally. It seems I'm a sucker for a remastered with bonus tracks edition and this delivers on the promise. So until Island Records cleans up Tribute to the Martyrs and Handsworth Revolution, I'm holding on to my vinyl.
