![]() | Elementary Particles by Bluetech
Buy used from: $29.99 Absolutely addictive music from Evan Bluetech of Portland, Oregon. Mostly downtempo with dub and jazz elements.
|
![]() | Sub Conscious by Phutureprimitive
Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $12.36 Impressive set of beats; spacey sounds - a little dark at times, but always interesting. Makes frequent use of vocalizations which makes for a thoughtful blend of electronic and organic sounds.

![]() | Deeperworlds by Mystical Sun
Buy new: $12.00 / Used from: $29.02 One of my current favorites. Great variety of sounds, styles, tempos, and moods, but it all works together. "Halo" has been anthologized and played in various radio markets and when you hear it you'll see why. Love the whole CD.

![]() | Soup by Bola
Buy new: $16.98 / Used from: $13.28 A journey without end. I hear something new every single time I listen to this work. Amazing sounds.
|
![]() | 76:14 by Global Communication
Buy used from: $4.80 Considered a new classic ambient work by many, 76:14 would be a terrific introduction to the softer, dreamier side of electronica. Percussion is at a minimum here; this is all about atmosphere and sound textures.

![]() | Colourform by Higher Intelligence Agency
Buy used from: $15.00 Second work and the best from HIA. A little hard to find, but worth tracking down.
|
![]() | Time Tourist by B12
Buy used from: $5.56 Closer to the dub side of things, this is the 2nd (and best) release from B12. Again - a release that you can listen to over and over again.

![]() | Zero One by Zero One
Buy new: $16.98 / Used from: $6.00 Zero One (Kevin Dooley) has a unique approach that is quite enjoyable. There is a sense of playfulness in his carefully constructed pieces that will often bring a smile to my face as I listen. His beats often have a decidedly funky feel to them; "Trust" and "Nothing to Fight About" are good examples. Other tracks are more introspective and spacey. This is just one of four good releases by the way.
|
![]() | Stranded Under Endless Sky by Hammock
Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $8.79 Excellent EP by this Nashville based duo that serves as a good introduction to their powerful sounds. Their style is often referred to as "shoegazing."
|
![]() | Raising Your Voice Trying to Stop an Echo by Hammock
Buy new: $13.99 / Used from: $8.98 If you enjoyed "Stranded..." and want more, then this Hammock (Marc Byrd and Andrew Thompson) release should be considered. Hammock's song titles are often intriguing: "When the Sky Pours Down Like a Fountain" or "Floating Away in Every Direction" for instance. The sound on this latest work is orchestral in its texture. At times it's hard to believe it is only guitars and keyboards.
|
![]() | Lost Days Open Skies & Streaming Tides by Manual
Buy new: $18.98 / Used from: $46.23 Another guitar-dominated sound and very rich in textures, Danish composer-performer Jonas Munk has released some excellent works. This collection features a wider variety of styles than found on some of his other releases. Like Hammock, Manual is often classified as "shoegazing" music.

![]() | Farewell Ferengistan by Banco de Gaia
Buy new: $16.98 / Used from: $2.61 Toby Marks just keeps putting out terrific music as Banco de Gaia. This, his latest, was released in 2006, but I still play it quite frequently and discover nuances I didn't hear before. This is the most beat-oriented, danceable item in the list.
|
![]() | Distance by Marconi Union
Buy new: $16.98 / Used from: $9.00 Released in 2005 this excellent work continues to be a favorite. Supposedly they are working on a new release for Brian Eno's All Saints label. Hope it's not just a rumor :-)
|
![]() | Indumani by Open Canvas
Buy new: $16.98 / Used from: $5.26 From the opening notes of "Liquid Shiva" you know you are in for a treat. This item brings a more pronounced Eastern or "world" flavor to the list. Very nice.
|
![]() | Double Fine Zone by Spacetime Continuum
Buy used from: $0.97 Electronica and jazz meet for some heady music. Challenging music and good muscianship.
|
![]() | The Magic Dragon by Caia
Buy used from: $4.49 Literally arrived in the mail the day I was compiling this list - a fantastic collection of tracks ranging from the funky opening number "The Rose Room" to the dreamy softness of "Jericho." I look forward to many more listenings of this new discovery.

![]() | Far Away Trains Passing By by Ulrich Schnauss
Buy new: $13.99 / Used from: $36.35 Beautiful melodies, high production values, and flawless execution. In my opinion he has yet to surpass this work.
|
![]() | Autumn Continent by Between Interval
Buy new: $16.98 / Used from: $38.81 The latest from Between Interval and it is excellent. Put on good headphones and watch the stars while you listen.
