There is nothing I didn't like about this movie - it is dark, complex, sexual, layered, a real treat. Beautifully directed and acted, a must-see for any serious movie fan. Based on the novel by Milan Kundera.

If for no other reason, watching Olivia de Havilland go from milquetoast (think of her in Gone With the Wind) to a cold, ruthless woman is worth watching this one. But strong performances by the rest of the cast, including Montgomery Clift and Sir Ralph Richardson, loathsome as the disdainful father, only enhance the movie. Based on Henry James' 1881 story 'Washington Square.'

A gem! Peter Dinklage is a train enthusiast who inherits an old depot in New Jersey and moves in. He meets an unusual group of people, including characters played by Patricia Clarkson and Bobby Cannavale. The performances are great. I love this movie so much I once spent a beautiful summer day driving around Morristown, where it was filmed, looking for Finn. Sadly, I didn't find him.

I'm a teacher, and I think this is the best movie ever made about us. Oddly enough, I can not find 'Up the Down Staircase' here on Amazon but that's my second favorite teacher movie.

Perhaps it is because I love New York, or because I've always had a thing for the late, brilliant actor Robert Shaw, or just because it is so very suspenseful, but I love this movie. Be sure to see the complete, unedited one, not the one usually shown on television.

And this is my second favorite Allen film. Don't expect to laugh because it isn't funny, but Gena Rowlands is amazing, and how Allen can write so convincingly about a woman and how she feels, thinks, loves, works, so intimately, is a mystery to me.

My favorite full length animated movie. From France, this film is all about a young man who lives with his grandmother and his dog, who enters the Tour de France, as bicycling is his passion, and is kidnapped. Grandma and son chien (his dog) come to Paris to rescue him, and are aided by the famous Triplets of Belleville! A lovely, heartwarming, visually exciting treat!

I couldn't find this one on DVD??? Anyway, based on the novel by Daphne Du Maurier, a great movie, lots of layers, suspense, and a few twists thrown in. Dark and moody like the movie, Laurence Olivier is perfect and Joan Fontaine is as well as the character without a name. One of Hitchcock's best movies.

Great movie, one of the best performances by all involved, Dustin Hoffman, Anne Bancroft, Murray Hamilton, Katherine Ross.

My aforementioned comments on Robert Shaw, plus Paul Newman, Robert Redford, there are so many reasons to love this movie, but they are the first three.

The best summer movie ever made. And, oh yes, Robert Shaw is in it. Based on Peter Benchley's novel, which, of course, is based on the classic Melville novel Moby Dick.

A great movie about Quakers and their commitment to pacifism during the Civil War. Dorothy McGuire, Gary Cooper and especially Anthony Perkins are excellent. Based on a novel by Jessamyn West.

This genre is not one I look for when perusing the movie listings. However, I do like some action films, and this is my favorite. This is a serious character study. We get to see John Travolta and Nicholas Cage switch characters, and not only does each actor adopt the traits, quirks and body language of the other character, they each adopt those of the other ACTOR.

Counting Godfathers I and II as the best mob movies ever made, this one would be the second best ever made.

The second best Christmas movie ever made. I've watched this every Christmas for at least the last ten years and I still get tears in my eyes at the ending, as does my husband, which is really saying something!
