Picked this one up on a whim and loved it. A sweet and sad examination of how much people need one another.

Yes, it is a vampire movie, and there is a bit of blood, but it is also very well shot and just beautiful to look at. A very interesting coming of age tale. Unlike anything I have ever seen, in the best way possible.

In the insert, Miranda July writes a short page about what makes the film so affecting. She writes that it is Billy's "himselfness" that makes us endeared to him. Very spot-on.

What a couple of dynamic characters. Whenever I feel like the world is a terrible place and there is nothing worth living for I watch this movie and it makes me feel better. If nothing else, we have song and dance. And fashion. And cats. And mothers and daughters.

Another film about people needing people. Plus, a sweet ABBA-tinged soundtrack. Yay, Sweden!
