Zeffirelli's adaptation of Charlotte Brontë's novel is my favourite, but I also loved the one by the BBC, so I recommend them both.

I gave up reading "Buddenbrooks" as I probably was too young when I tried to (I was still a teenager), but I enjoyed this adaptation of Thomas Mann's novel very much.
