Alien Quadrilogy (Alien/ Aliens /Alien 3 /Alien Resurrection)Alien Quadrilogy (Alien/ Aliens /Alien 3 /Alien Resurrection)
Buy new: $45.49 / Used from: $27.23
My preference remains 'Aliens' while the initial 'Alien' follows. H.R. Giger was a talented artist of the macabre.
Resident Evil - The High-Definition Trilogy (Resident Evil/ Resident Evil: Apocalypse/ Resident Evil: Extinction) [Blu-ray]Resident Evil - The High-Definition Trilogy (Resident Evil/ Resident Evil: Apocalypse/ Resident Evil: Extinction) [Blu-ray]
Buy new: $38.99 / Used from: $31.74
Notwithstanding one's preference, entrapped underground among the reanimated dead might not be an enjoyable morning yet the situation does constitute a fascinating movie.
I Am Legend (Widescreen Two-Disc Special Edition)I Am Legend (Widescreen Two-Disc Special Edition)
Buy new: $22.49 / Used from: $1.95
Quickly becoming a favorite. Will Smith deserved an Oscar for his performance. While faint simulacrum to Richard Matheson's original tome, the interpretation is a well-produced film; albeit without the virally metamorphised humanity, I would not mind living in the main character's place.
Land of the Dead (Unrated Edition)Land of the Dead (Unrated Edition)
Buy new: $4.99 / Used from: $0.25
Whether "Shaun..." or "Day...", if the title ends with "...of the Dead", my wife and I are transfixed. Fun films.
Thirteen GhostsThirteen Ghosts
Buy new: $5.79 / Used from: $1.65
Quite an under-appreciated film; Monk in a glass house replete with malignant phantoms. So unfortunate the lawyer was compelled to split.
Poltergeist (25th Anniversary Edition)Poltergeist (25th Anniversary Edition)
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $2.01
The primary justification in preventing the manufacture of stuffed clown dolls.
The Fog (Special Edition)The Fog (Special Edition)
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $1.94
Avoid the heretical remake; the original remains unsurpassed.
The Shining (Two-Disc Special Edition)The Shining (Two-Disc Special Edition)
Buy new: $11.49 / Used from: $5.60
I would happily spend a winter in that hotel.
The Thing (Collector's Edition)The Thing (Collector's Edition)
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $4.93
Excellent! Wilford Brimley does not mention "die-uh-bedez" in this.
Silent Hill (Widescreen Edition)Silent Hill (Widescreen Edition)
Buy new: $12.49 / Used from: $0.01
The macabre atmosphere was well depicted; the assemblage of shrill and cindered toddlers clawing for the main character was of disturbed fascination.
RavenousRavenous
Buy new: $9.98 / Used from: $3.01
If your camping trip involves a Captain John Boyd; remain home and eat a carrot.
Trilogy of TerrorTrilogy of Terror
Buy new: $17.49 / Used from: $10.39
I cannot recall the other two stories within this trilogy; perhaps few do when one considers the "Zuni fetish doll". When a child, the sound of the doll; whose vocalizations are reminiscent of cats fighting, prevented sleep for many nights. As an adult, I have the doll in my consulting studio.
The Amityville HorrorThe Amityville Horror
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $0.05
Beautiful house: spacious, attractive woodwork, private boat dock, maleficent demon - wait... what?
The Exorcist (The Version You've Never Seen)The Exorcist (The Version You've Never Seen)
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $2.04
I cannot conceive a proper list of terror without the Exorcist. The book by W.P. Blatty, on which the film was based, is recommended as well.
Jeepers CreepersJeepers Creepers
Buy new: $10.49 / Used from: $1.88
The final scene, wherein a misfortunate character 'sans ses yeux' regards the viewer while a Victrola plays some long-passed song, is one to remember.
The Silence of the Lambs (Two-Disc Collector's Edition)The Silence of the Lambs (Two-Disc Collector's Edition)
Buy new: $15.99 / Used from: $4.63
Silence of the Lambs demonstrated the evil within; Hannibal Rising justified it. We were cheering each time the young Hannibal Lechter dealt with someone from his past.
ScreamersScreamers
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $2.69
Young child in the snow holding a teddy bear; what could happen?
