![]() | The Essential Bob Dylan (Rm) (2CD) by Bob Dylan
Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $6.00 Bob Dylan is the man and it's hard to pin down one great album out of his 40+ album catalog so I'd reccommend this 2 disc essential album of all his hits for starters and then work your way to the albums starting with....

![]() | Blonde on Blonde by Bob Dylan

![]() | Highway 61 Revisited by Bob Dylan
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $3.79 ..."Desolation Row". Neither song is on the "Essential" album and no Dylan experience is complete without them.
![]() | Illinoise by Sufjan Stevens
Buy new: $13.99 / Used from: $8.00 This guy is interesting. Just about every instrument in the book is used in this breakthrough album from one of indie-folks top performers. "John Wayne Gacy, Jr." is the gem on this one.
![]() | Ships by Danielson
Buy new: $14.98 / Used from: $3.21 Danielson has one of the most unique and distinctive voices in the folk-rock scene. Check out "Did I step on your trumpet?" if you have a sense of humor.
![]() | London Calling by The Clash
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $3.70 Reggae influenced punk rock from the masters of the genre. Strummer had such a unique voice which went along perfectly with the music that supported him. A revolutionary album from a revolutionary band. I can listen to this whole album on repeat for hours. My favorite song on the album is "The Guns of Brixton".
![]() | ...And Out Come the Wolves by Rancid
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $1.93 Influenced heavily by The Clash, Rancid made reggae influenced punk rock for a new generation of punks. I love all their albums up to 2000's s/t album but this was their stand-out for me. "Roots Radicals" and "Time Bomb" are awesome songs. This cd gets me going every time.
![]() | Ramones Mania by The Ramones
Buy new: $13.98 / Used from: $0.24 Talk about old school. I acknowledge the fact that they're not the first punk band ever, but darnit, they started a heck of a revival and gave new fans interest in the style. I love every song the Ramones have put on this disc. The lyrics are simple and the music is catchy as all get-up. It's no surprise that they would be an influence to great bands like....
![]() | Dookie by Green Day
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $0.11 ...Green Day! What an awesome band with such raw energy and flow from song to song. Who would've thought that these 3 hopeless punks would make a rock masterpiece that would stand the test of time?? Listen to "Basket Case" and tell me that it doesn't get stuck in your head all day. Favorite track is "In the End" and "Welcome to Paradise"
![]() | The Colour and the Shape by Foo Fighters
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $5.49 Who would think that the misfortunate split up of the legendary Nirvana would be the greatest thing to happen to Dave Grohl? This album rocks harder and means more to me than anything Nirvana has ever released. Best songs go to "Everlong", "Monkey Wrench" and "February Stars".
![]() | Skin and Bones by Foo Fighters
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $3.97 A live Foo album! Check out the version of "Times Like These". It's beautiful.
![]() | Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette
Buy new: $13.99 / Used from: $0.01 She's crazy. I re-listened to "You Oughta Know" recently and was hooked all over again. I can't relate to this at all, but her anger is portrayed in the music all too well to be unmentioned.
![]() | Blueprints for the Black Market by Anberlin
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $4.75 Yeah, this is catchy from start to finish. Anberlin really set a high bar for themselves with this debut album. The music is different from anything I listen to and Christian has such a distinctive voice. The cover of The Cure's "Love Song" is even good. Favorite songs on the album are "Cadence" which is a love song to our Creator and "Naieve Orleans" which is probably the best break-up song ever.
![]() | Never Take Friendship Personal by Anberlin
Buy new: $13.98 / Used from: $5.59 "Blueprints..." set a high bar and this album lived up to it. Just a great band.
![]() | Right Now, You're in the Best of Hands by Bear vs. Shark

![]() | Magic Potion by The Black Keys
Buy new: $13.99 / Used from: $8.99 Blues influenced garage rock. Whoa.
![]() | Asleep/No Apologies by Bleed the Dream
Buy used from: $0.96 I hate EP's but the acoustic versions of "Broken Wings" and "Should Have Known" are, to me, better than the originals. Pretty sure this was put out shortly after the unfortunate passing of their drummer Scott Gottlieb when he lost his battle with cancer. The emotion in the singer's voice is pure and heart-wrenching in this release.
![]() | Robbers & Cowards by Cold War Kids
Buy used from: $6.33 Yeah. It's catchy right from the start.
![]() | The Central Park Concert by Dave Matthews Band
Buy new: $16.99 / Used from: $3.25 DMB likes to JAM!!! Turn out the lights, cancel any plans you have, light a couple candles and relax to 3 discs of some of the most amazing music ever given to mankind. If the cover of Neil Young's "Cortez the Killer" doesn't slay you, then you need not pay any attention to anything on this list because you don't know what good music is. It's that good!!!!!
![]() | Leitmotif by Dredg
Buy used from: $24.89 Such a unique band that gets alot of crap for sounding like Tool. I don't really think they do. I dunno, maybe it's me. But that doesn't take away from the fact that they are amazing and refreshening on the ears. If you're going for a long drive, this is what you need to have in the cd player. Also, try to get your hands on the 3 song EP "Orph" and avoid "Catch Without Arms".
![]() | The Best of Elvis Costello: The First 10 Years [DIGIPACK] by Elvis Costello
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $5.96 All the attitude of punk but with a different tone to the music. The guy is cocky like whoa but makes great music. It's reccommended that immediately upon reading this that you go to youtube and find the video of Elvis on SNL performing "Radio, Radio" and find out why he wasn't supposed to pay that song =-O

![]() | Grace by Jeff Buckley
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $2.58 A buddy of mine turned me onto this overlooked gem. Another artist with deep lyrics and raw emotion. He only made one album before he comitted suicide but it happens to be better than most artists can hope to achieve in a lifetime. Find a way to listen to "Lover, You Should Have Come Over". You won't regret it.
![]() | Deja Entendu by Brand New

Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $2.99 You need both of these albums....
![]() | One Man Revolution by The Nightwatchman
Buy used from: $5.62 Ok, he chose a really corny name for his solo persona, but Tom Morello of RATM and Audioslave fame's solo album is deep and gritty sounding. Worth a listen says I. Listen to "Let Freedom Ring"
![]() | Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd
Buy new: $13.99 / Used from: $7.50 Five songs of pure genius. Pink Floyd's style has never been matched and never will. That in itself is amazing.
