Bob Dylan is the man and it's hard to pin down one great album out of his 40+ album catalog so I'd reccommend this 2 disc essential album of all his hits for starters and then work your way to the albums starting with....

..."Desolation Row". Neither song is on the "Essential" album and no Dylan experience is complete without them.

Danielson has one of the most unique and distinctive voices in the folk-rock scene. Check out "Did I step on your trumpet?" if you have a sense of humor.

Influenced heavily by The Clash, Rancid made reggae influenced punk rock for a new generation of punks. I love all their albums up to 2000's s/t album but this was their stand-out for me. "Roots Radicals" and "Time Bomb" are awesome songs. This cd gets me going every time.

...Green Day! What an awesome band with such raw energy and flow from song to song. Who would've thought that these 3 hopeless punks would make a rock masterpiece that would stand the test of time?? Listen to "Basket Case" and tell me that it doesn't get stuck in your head all day. Favorite track is "In the End" and "Welcome to Paradise"

A live Foo album! Check out the version of "Times Like These". It's beautiful.

Yeah, this is catchy from start to finish. Anberlin really set a high bar for themselves with this debut album. The music is different from anything I listen to and Christian has such a distinctive voice. The cover of The Cure's "Love Song" is even good. Favorite songs on the album are "Cadence" which is a love song to our Creator and "Naieve Orleans" which is probably the best break-up song ever.

I would say in the same vain of Taking Back Sunday. Great musicianship and lyrics. Great energy. Just great rock music.

I hate EP's but the acoustic versions of "Broken Wings" and "Should Have Known" are, to me, better than the originals. Pretty sure this was put out shortly after the unfortunate passing of their drummer Scott Gottlieb when he lost his battle with cancer. The emotion in the singer's voice is pure and heart-wrenching in this release.

DMB likes to JAM!!! Turn out the lights, cancel any plans you have, light a couple candles and relax to 3 discs of some of the most amazing music ever given to mankind. If the cover of Neil Young's "Cortez the Killer" doesn't slay you, then you need not pay any attention to anything on this list because you don't know what good music is. It's that good!!!!!

All the attitude of punk but with a different tone to the music. The guy is cocky like whoa but makes great music. It's reccommended that immediately upon reading this that you go to youtube and find the video of Elvis on SNL performing "Radio, Radio" and find out why he wasn't supposed to pay that song =-O

Unknown indie-rock that flew under everyone's radar. Intelligent lyrics and dark guitars keep this a constant in my player. "I Pretend To Choke" is awesome.
