A beautiful tale of love in the 19th C interspersed with a modern day story. Jeremy Northam & Jennifer Ehle shine as the 19thC lovers. Gwyneth Paltrow is excellent as the modern day researcher. Toby is her professional rival for about 15 min. of screentime. In the commentary, director Neil LaBute praises Toby effusively.

Not for the faint-hearted! Toby looks delicious as Doctor Woodleigh but unless rather graphic psychological horror is your bag - strictly for diehard Toby fans only! You've been warned, :).

Toby's very small, comedic role as Victorin Hulot is priceless. Incidentally, Toby co-starred on stage in London w/Jessica Lange in A Streetcar Named Desire.
