"Black Sunday" is an amazing debut, with Barbara Steel in her iconic performance. "The Girl, Black Sabbath, Kill Baby, Kill" are all Amazing. "Knives" is the only average film here.

One of Bava's most underrated films, full of atmosphere and slow paced, yet a beautiful dark and twisted romance.

A film that has been greatly immitated, the production team of "Alien" owes this film a huge debt. Bava attempt at Science Fiction makes for an atmospheric film.

This covers many of Bava's late 60s through 70s films. "Four Times That Night" is a surprisingly good sex comedy. "5 Dolls" is also quite good. "Bay of Blood" was a groundbreaker in the slasher horror genere, as well as very immitated. "Baron Blood" is Bava back in form with a gothic horror film.

This was Bava's follow-up after "Black Sunday", while it appears he was a hired gun for these producers, having photographed the previous Hercules pictures, Bava manages to deliver a fun picture that would be a good introduction for a new fan. The underworld sequences are visually amazing, demonstrates his great mastery of color and his understanding of how to use the widescreen format.

Bava's second final great statement is a film so unlike his previous work, gritty, raw, and dark. A Euro-crime thriller that fits the tradtion of Tarrantino's work.
