Reiner thought this Brahms 4 with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra was the most beautiful thing he ever recorded, and I'm sure he was right. A Keith Wilkinson recording in Kingsway Hall.

Gemütlich, which seems to rub some wrong (see the review), but this recording always brings a smile to my face.

Vaughan Williams: Symphony No. 5 in D; Flos campi; Oboe ConcertoVaughan Williams: Symphony No. 5 in D; Flos campi; Oboe Concerto
Buy used from: $5.75
Barbirolli would be my first choice; that also had a great recording of Bax's Tintagel, and is only available now in a big box of English music. But Handley is a also great VW conductor, and Flos campi is a very appealing work.

Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra in great sound.
Stravinsky: Symphonies and ConcertosStravinsky: Symphonies and Concertos
Buy new: $17.98 / Used from: $8.79
Mostly middle period Stravinsky. Grumiaux and Davis are brilliant in the Violin Concerto, and Markevitch very effective in the Symphony of Psalms. For me, much of this wears better than the Rite of Spring.
