I first read about this novel in an Irish Newspaper and immediately bought a copy. If is definitely not for the faint hearted. This is a long book which can lag if you have no knowledge of Irish history and have no interest in it. This took the Author Jamie O'Neill ten years to write, and at times it can read that way but once you break through it all this is truly a masterpiece in it's own right.

My all time favorite gay book. This was the first novel by Poppy. Z. Brite that I read and from then on I was completely hooked. She is my favorite living writer, although nothing she has written since can ever compare to this great book. Warning, it's extremely graphic but you'll be absorbed by it.

I love how Poppy Z. Brite's books are all connected in some way. This let's you share the lives of Steve and Ghost, characters mentioned in Poppy Z. Brite's previous novel Drawing Blood. A very interesting read.

The second installment following on from Poppy Z. Brite's novel Liquor. A great read, now you are truly absorbed into the series and can't wait for the next one.

This book is the start of change for author Poppy Z. Brite and the birth of characters Rickey and G Man from the restaurant series Liquor, Prime and Soul Kitchen. It's only 185 pages which is just enough to prepare you for her first full length novel within the series.

I own two copies of this novel. The first edition and a reprint and I thoroughly enjoy them both. Set in World War II, It is well written and I found it very real.

This book of short stories by Annie Proulx is where I first discovered "Brokeback Mountain" a fantastic short story which at the time had me wishing that it was longer. To my utter disbelief several years later I heard that they had turned it into a script and are making it into a movie. Annie Proulx is definitely an author with talent.

Michelangelo is my favourite artist. I still remember the way I felt being up close to one of his original sculptures. I remember standing there so long I had to be asked to move. Michelangelo’s poetry may not be flawless but it gives you a real insight into his loves, passions and the constant turmoil of his life.

My favourite poet. If you like honest and moving poetry then Auden is definitely worth a read.

This book is only for true lovers and fans of the television show Queer As Folk. I enjoyed this book but only out of my complete bias for the topic more than any talent that had gone into the book.

This is a good novel with a lot of fantastic references and some well written original poetry. One of the better coming out novels I have read.

Meyer Levin has definitely taken some liberties with this novel based on the true life killing committed By Richard Loeb and Nathan Leopold. This is a work of fiction and is limited by its 1956 publish date. I am still waiting for a good fictionalised version of this true life event to be written.

If you have read Mark Kendrick’s previous novel Desert Sons and enjoyed it then this is the novel for you. Personally I find Mark Kendrick's work to be quite weak and unbelievable. He is not a very sophisticated writer but is perhaps only aiming for the younger reader.
