My Favorite Romance Novels
By an Amazon.com customer
Twilight (The Twilight Saga, Book 1)Twilight (The Twilight Saga, Book 1) by Stephenie Meyer
Buy new: $4.25 / Used from: $3.48
This is what started it all. I mocked all those who read it and fell in love with it....until I did! This book re-ignited my love for books in a way I could have ever expected. I loved the way the story unfolded and the love and attraction between Bella & Edward grew throughout the story. I have read the book over a dozen times and was instantly recruited into the army of Twilighters.
New Moon (The Twilight Saga, Book 2)New Moon (The Twilight Saga, Book 2) by Stephenie Meyer
Buy new: $4.25 / Used from: $2.47
I really enjoyed this next book in the Twilight series. I loved how the book starts with Bella in jeopardy. I even liked the focus of the book on Jacob's story, which is how I characterize the book. I was a little frustrated that Bella seemed clueless much of the book, perhaps its just my mature mind wanted to shake some sense into her.
Eclipse (The Twilight Saga, Book 3)Eclipse (The Twilight Saga, Book 3) by Stephenie Meyer
Buy new: $11.69 / Used from: $4.72
This is my favorite book of the series. I loved the love triangle between Bella, Edward and Jacob although mostly unspoken the entire book. As I have said before about the 2 previous books, I would love to read this book from Edward's perspective. I thought the characters were very realistic and I loved the way the wolves and the vampires came together to fight the army of newborns.
Breaking Dawn (The Twilight Saga, Book 4)Breaking Dawn (The Twilight Saga, Book 4) by Stephenie Meyer
Buy new: $9.00 / Used from: $7.99
I was very aware that this was a teen book after reading this book.I was distracted by Jacob's book at the beginning as a result the other books were rushed.I wanted to focus more on the Bella and Edward and their love. I wanted more during the honeymoon. I think it could have been tastefully done instead of the "fade-to-black".I think it was a good ending to the series, I was hoping for great.
PassionPassion by Lisa Valdez
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $3.11
This was my first historical romance novel. The language threw me at first...but the situation is timeless. Very hot. Read with bedroom door locked!
To Seduce A Sinner (The Legend of the Four Soldiers)To Seduce A Sinner (The Legend of the Four Soldiers) by Elizabeth Hoyt
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $0.01
This was my first book by Elizabeth Hoyt. She made me a fan. Not too graphic but still very erotic. Well told story. Highly recommend.
The Stranger I MarriedThe Stranger I Married by Sylvia Day
Buy new: $11.90 / Used from: $1.49
Unexpected gem. I will continue to read this author's books. Touching story about redemption and love.
BrokenBroken by Megan Hart
Buy new: $10.04 / Used from: $4.84
I have now read all the books by Meghan Hart. This one is my favorite. Touching story told side-by-side with tales of lust and seduction. A keeper!
TemptedTempted by Megan Hart
Buy new: $10.04 / Used from: $5.53
I think if it was more realistic, the threesome would have turned out a lot worse, but I was glad that we didn't get a complete happy ending. I felt more frustrated with the lead character rather than emphatic. Basically I didn’t care what happened to any of them.
DirtyDirty by Megan Hart
Buy new: $10.04 / Used from: $5.41
This was my least favorite of all of her books but still a nice weekend read.
StrangerStranger by Megan Hart
Buy new: $10.04 / Used from: $3.67
This one was okay but I felt it was rushed. I didn't buy her paying for escorts. The story felt contrived to me and as a result it was hard for me to really care for the characters.
Where Dreams BeginWhere Dreams Begin by Lisa Kleypas
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.23
I liked this book. I thought the story was rich in detail but weak in erotic situations. It was a better romance novel than a erotic novel.
Tempt the DevilTempt the Devil by Anna Campbell
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $0.01
I think at times the book was confused what it wanted to be. I thought some of the tone was more modern than other historical romance novels. I did grow to like the hero...but wasn't as attached to the heroine. I thought some of the sex scenes were referred to instead of explained. I want the author to paint a picture in an erotic book, not refer to it.
Dead Until Dark (Southern Vampire Mysteries, No. 1)Dead Until Dark (Southern Vampire Mysteries, No. 1) by Charlaine Harris
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.12
This was my first book in the Sookie Stackhouse series. Although good...I watched the t.v. show first, True Blood. The differences between that and the book may have lessened my enjoyment as I prefer the show. But still a good tell about romance with a vampire. Nice change from the lighter Twilight series.
A Passion for HimA Passion for Him by Sylvia Day
Buy new: $10.08 / Used from: $4.96
This was a good romantic story. It seemed to start and end quickly. I would have liked more interim story. But still a good, quick read.
Bad Boys Ahoy!Bad Boys Ahoy! by Sylvia Day
Buy new: $10.08 / Used from: $3.60
I typically don't like mini stories, but this book changed my mind. The first story read like an entire book. I was swept away with the characters at sea. The second and third story had some of the same characters. I would recommend it on the weight of the first 2 stories.
Don't Tempt Me (Brava Historical Romance)Don't Tempt Me (Brava Historical Romance) by Sylvia Day
Buy new: $10.08 / Used from: $3.72
This book read like a crime thriller. There was one steamy scene but the rest of the book was about spies and intrigue. I loved it! Even though it was not heavy on the romantic side as other books by this author are, it was a really great and exciting read.
Fantasy Lover (Dark-Hunter, Book 1)Fantasy Lover (Dark-Hunter, Book 1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $2.55
This was my first foray into the Dark Hunter series. I liked the romance and the story, but I am not a fan of the writer's style of writing. A lot of slang words such as "Holy Guacamole" which I can't even begin to guess what decade that's from. But if you can ignore some corny dialogue, it is a fun story.
Night Pleasures (Dark-Hunter, Book 2)Night Pleasures (Dark-Hunter, Book 2) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.84
Heavy on the erotica and the corny dialogue, I still enjoyed the story. You really have to stretch your imagination with these tales of Greek gods, spirits and vampire like creatures. Everything works out in the end even when the situations are beyond absurd. But I am hooked and will continue to read this series.
Night Embrace (Dark-Hunter, Book 3)Night Embrace (Dark-Hunter, Book 3) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $1.95
I am still sticking with this series. I liked this one the best so far. It was heavy on the sex but it also had more romance then the previous 2. There was less of the really ridiculous dialogue that I felt was the downside of reading these books. We know in most stories there is going to be a happy ever after...but she lays in on a little too thick with EVERYTHING turning out alright.
Dance with the Devil (Dark-Hunter, Book 4)Dance with the Devil (Dark-Hunter, Book 4) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Buy used from: $2.99
Okay....I said that last book. But this time I mean it. I loved the story of Zarek in Alaska. I felt connected to his character instantly and was rooting for him the entire book. The poor dialogue that marred book 1 and 2 was gone. Ms. Kenyon is getting better with each book. I look forward to eventually reading Acheron's story.
To Taste Temptation (The Legend of the Four Soldiers)To Taste Temptation (The Legend of the Four Soldiers) by Elizabeth Hoyt
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $2.78
I read this book out of order but really liked the story. It was very hot and steamy and you could feel the attraction between the 2 characters. I also like the underlining Spinner's Falls mystery and feel it adds the soldiers mystic. Great read!
To Beguile A Beast (The Legend of the Four Soldiers)To Beguile A Beast (The Legend of the Four Soldiers) by Elizabeth Hoyt
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $0.53
This is the 3rd book in The Legend of the Four Soldiers stories. I liked this one the best so far because I was drawn to Sir Alistar's character in the previous book. I felt that the characters this time around were most realistic. Although this one did not focus on the Spinner's Falls mystery as much as the previous ones, I was captivated by the love story. Great weekend read.
Passion for the GamePassion for the Game by Sylvia Day
Buy new: $10.08 / Used from: $3.38
This book is the best of the series. I loved the chemistry between Christopher and Maria and was drawn to how passionate the moments between them were. I read the 3rd book first so I knew how the story with her sister would end. I found that book less entertaining but see a more complete story since the sister's story starts in this volume.
Kiss of the Night (Dark-Hunter, Book 5)Kiss of the Night (Dark-Hunter, Book 5) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $2.89
I felt this 5th book in the series that the author ran out of steam. It was extremely rushed and forced. I thought mortal enemies coming together would be more exciting. This stretched the impossible a little too far for me. I felt the 2 characters connected too soon and for no good reason. Too much discussion of the history of their race and not about their romance.
Night Play (Dark-Hunter, Book 6)Night Play (Dark-Hunter, Book 6) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $2.62
This was a welcome relief after reading the last book. I liked the continuation of the story of the wolves. I especially liked how the ending was wrapped in an over sized bow. I found myself routing for the characters and how the heroine spent time thinking her love for the hero through.
Ask For ItAsk For It by Sylvia Day
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $2.86
It was good to read the origin of Christopher St. John since his story (2nd book) was my favorite. There is a lot of passion and sex in this book...some rough...some not. You can almost open the book to any page and find a sex scene. But truly this is a story about redemption and lost love.
Seize the Night (Dark-Hunter, Book 7)Seize the Night (Dark-Hunter, Book 7) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $2.54
This book which paired Tabitha with Valerius (tied to characters from book 2).One of the characters said in the aftermath of the climax of the story, “I’m not so sure we’re the ones that won this time around.” You felt that in this book. People died while others lives were altered forever. I felt this book moved past just an erotic romance novel and delved deeper into the Dark Hunter mythology.
Sins of the Night (Dark-Hunter, Book 8)Sins of the Night (Dark-Hunter, Book 8) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $1.04
I have noticed that the author has some hits and misses in this dark hunter series. This was definitely a hit! She mixed the right amount of sexual tension and attraction while advancing the DH mythology and storyline. You felt for both the hero and heroine in this story even though they were both allowed to be week at times.
Unleash the Night (Dark-Hunter, Book 9)Unleash the Night (Dark-Hunter, Book 9) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $2.40
Spoiler alert: It got convoluted in the end. Example: "If Grayson was alive to accuse you before you came back, then I must have brought him back in time to kill him after you left." Huh? Whatever. Sex scenes were hot. But unbelievable ending, but what else is new. The familiar theme of love and redemption is still there.
Dark Side of the Moon (A Dark-Hunter Novel, Book 10)Dark Side of the Moon (A Dark-Hunter Novel, Book 10) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Buy used from: $2.95
This book was much longer than her other books, small print. I love any one of her stories that has Ash, Nick and now Savitar in it. As far as the main characters Ravyn & Susan, the story was ok. The sex is at a minimum, a trend I am finding as I get into the double digits of her books. I think you have to read the entire series to really appreciate her style and the characters in the book.
The Dream-Hunter (A Dream-Hunter Novel, Book 1)The Dream-Hunter (A Dream-Hunter Novel, Book 1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.12
This was a difficult book to finish. I know SK was attempting to lay the history and foundation for the next series of books...but it took 107 pages before this book got to the story and became a little bit interesting. And then instead of hot, it was a low simmer. It was all too easy in the end and I barely cared that love conquered all. But the dream hunters just seems overly complicated.
Devil May Cry (Dark-Hunter, Book 11)Devil May Cry (Dark-Hunter, Book 11) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.83
Major plot reveal in this book. I love Ash...so this is my fav so far in the series. Romance between Sin and Kat was fresh, fun and real. Highly recommend.
Dream Chaser (A Dream-Hunter Novel, Book 3)Dream Chaser (A Dream-Hunter Novel, Book 3) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01
I definitely though SK got back on track with this one. I wanted to like Xypher in Devil May Cry and now love him. After 2 dreadful Dream Hunter books before, I had really low hopes for this one. But I ended up liking the characters and was rooting for them. Again, quick ending with a big red bow, but that is what I have come to expect as well.
Acheron (Dark-Hunter, Book 12)Acheron (Dark-Hunter, Book 12) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.18
How can you say a book that was over 400 page of brutal child sexual abuse was good? I read the warning by the author and laughed. It couldn't be THAT bad. It really and truly was. But as hard as it was to read, it was also powerful and griping. I felt that Ash's redemption should have been an entirely new book. Did it pay off? It did. Kind of. But I still wanted much more.
One Silent Night (Dark-Hunter, Book 13)One Silent Night (Dark-Hunter, Book 13) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $1.84
After reaching the pinnacle of the SK series with Acheron, I wasn't sure about the rest of the series. I liked OSN, even though it seems like a lifetime ago from the Fantasy Lover book I first read. We understand the characters, no more mystery. I loved hearing Stryker’s story and the now familiar set-up, him reuniting with his one true love. Some minor low points but still a good read.
Dream Warrior (Dream-Hunter Novels)Dream Warrior (Dream-Hunter Novels) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01
This book was good, some of the familiar characters from the past were here. I am starting to get a little confused with all the new characters but eager to allow the series to develop more. Instead of book 14, it feels like book 2 of the new series.
Bad Moon Rising: A Dark-Hunter Novel (Dark-Hunter Novels)Bad Moon Rising: A Dark-Hunter Novel (Dark-Hunter Novels) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Buy new: $16.49 / Used from: $9.20
SK gave just a little backstory of the characters which is my only criticism. Fang and Aimee were 2 characters that I have been rooting for ever since Vane's story was told. I thought there was enough of the attraction, romance and danger to root for true love. I thought the ending for the bear family was realistic and touching.
