Its nice to read about the coming-of-age of a male for a change. I'm not a huge fan of Irving's but this book is one of the greatest.

Gone with the WindGone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell

I had never seen the movie when a friend recommended I read this book.I absolutely loved it. Although Scarlet O'Hara's character is thoroughly unlikeable, the plot is unexpectedly exciting. I loved learning about the civil war. Mitchell is an incredible writer.
Jane Eyre (Vintage Classics)Jane Eyre (Vintage Classics) by Charlotte Bronte

This is my favorite classic of all time. The classic story of the young, plain Jane who captured the heart of her moody, mysterious employer. Written by a woman who never married but apparently understood the workings of the heart.

Very funny story of a young Irish woman living in New York City who suddenly finds herself being checked in to a "posh" drug rehab after one silly old "accidental" overdose. Its great the way the author tells the story from the point of view of Rachel, who is total denial of her situation/
