An original movie adaptation of a horror story by Clive Barker. A photographer discovers that a train traveling the subway system at midnight holds a terrifying secret. This is a very scary film, shocking and bloody at times, but has a style and a story that actually makes you care about the characters and the victims. Almost like a modern but classy treatment of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

I loved this. It's like walking into a haunted house in a carnival but one that you can't leave. The frightening things that happen in this house will make you jump. It's thrilling and scary and not too bloody. A group of people are offered a million dollars to spend one night locked inside a former mental hospital with a bloody past.

Why did I include this in my list? Because the vile demon Pinhead meets his end in it. And I really wanted to see that. This sadomasochistc series has little going for it, but this one, the final version actually tells an entertaining story about the rise and fall of an evil being who needs to be destroyed. Good defeats evil in the end.

This horror film feeds you with hyper-paranoia and makes you look over your shoulder as you watch it. Alien spores begin growing on earth, producing large pods with stem-like veins that creep into your body as you sleep, draining your insides out, creating a perfect replica that has a sort of hive mentality but retains memories of the original. No one is who they seem to be. No one can be trusted.
