![]() | The Misfits
Buy used from: $2.00 Marilyn's best acting performance. When I first started watching her movies I was convinced she couldn't act, but this movie changed my mind. She was becoming a better actress as she got older, it's too bad her life was cut short before we could see more of her acting talents.

![]() | Some Like It Hot
Buy used from: $3.80 Even though this movie was made in the late '50s, it's still funny to this day. Despite the fact that Marilyn was completely 'out of it' on set, she gives one of her best comedic performances.

![]() | How To Marry A Millionaire
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $6.00 Surprisingly Marilyn wears glasses almost throughout this entire movie. It is the sassy Lauren Bacall that manages to pull this movie together for one of the better 1950's Technicolor comedies.

![]() | Bus Stop
Buy new: $12.99 / Used from: $4.77 Marilyn's first attempt at serious acting. She was crushed she didn't get the Oscar nomination she wanted. One of her more varied performances, because she is not playing a bimbo here, yet not her best. She would improve later on.

![]() | Niagara
Buy used from: $6.48 Although Marilyn is billed as the top star, she actually has a supporting part as a wife attempting to murder her husband. She dies about three quarters into the movie. A bit of a different role for Marilyn, because even though she is the 'vixen' here, she is not innocent nor naïve. Her voice is noticably lower, too.

![]() | Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
Buy used from: $5.49 A fluffy, sugary sweet movie. Has a couple funny moments, but only a couple. The best moment is seeing Marilyn's classic performance 'Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend' that would go on to be aped by many, including Madonna in the 1985 'Material Girl' video.

![]() | Marilyn Monroe - The Final Days
Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $10.97 Marilyn's last and uncompleted movie, "Something's Got to Give". The first half is a documentary and the second half is Fox's attempt to piece together all the footage they had into a movie. Not bad, but it would have been interesting to see the final completion. Marilyn had lost her breathy voice by this point, and had a more older, wiser look (she looks so much like Debbie Harry!) in this movie.

![]() | The Prince and the Showgirl
Buy new: $19.49 / Used from: $6.55 This movie started out alright, but about halfway became tediously slow. Marilyn's character has her witty moments, yet also acts similiar to the other sexy, dumb blonde roles she played. Most likely the result of director/co-star Lawrence Olivier who told her to "be sexy, dear Marilyn".
|
![]() | There's No Business Like Show Business
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $6.89 A lavish Technicolor musical that is very boring. A showcase for Ethel Merman's and someone else's (forget his name) show tunes. Marilyn has a somewhat small, supporting part. She was forced into this role by the studio after being on suspension.

![]() | Don't Bother to Knock
Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $5.87 Wow this movie is so lame, it should have been a parody. Interesting tidbit: Anne Bancroft's (the Graduate) first movie. Marilyn's performance of a mentally disturbed girl isn't quite accurate, but it's probably not her fault, because the whole script sucked. The breathy, sexy voice just doesn't cut it for a mentally deranged chick.

![]() | The Seven Year Itch by Billy Wilder
Buy used from: $4.92 As a woman this movie kind of annoyed me. It's clearly a man's movie, particularly an older man's movie. Very dated and sexist, but it was reflective of the times: 1955. Makes me glad I wasn't around in the 1950s.
