All 17 classic Fleischer cartoons shorts from the 1940s are collected in this beautifully restored collection. Superman (and his fans) were very fortunate to have his first foray into animation be at such an unprecedented level of quality.

George Reeves' takes over the cape for all 6 seasons of this classic TV series. Once again, WB outdid themselves with the restoration job on these episodes and we get to see them finally unedited. The earlier seasons are the best in terms of maturity but the color episodes are what most people remember the most.

Christopher Reeve reinterpreted Superman for a modern audience with his memorable performance, to the extent that his legacy still resonates with the majority of fans when thinking of the quintessential Superman. This wasn't just an actor playing a role, but the Man of Steel himself! This set collects all of his movies, except for the 2006 Richard Donner Cut of Superman II.

The final incarnation of the Superfriends and also my personal favorite. The animation was a lot better and the stories became more mature acting as a bridge to the animated series phenomenon of the 1990s ushered in by the Batman animated series. Best episode: The Death of Superman.

After nearly 50 years of convoluted continuity, DC finally gave writer/ artist John Byrne the opportunity to reboot the character and his mythos for a modern audience in 1986. This volume collects all 6 issues from 'The Man of Steel' mini-series, while subsequent volumes collect issues from the regular monthly Superman comics.

After the Chris Reeve Superman movies, the producers decided to bring the Man of Steel to the TV screen as a teen. While this first season represents the height of 80s camp, future seasons got increasingly better until it became perhaps the definitive adaption of Superman on the small screen. Sadly, WB seems to have no further interest in releasing any more seasons.

While Superman was being killed in the comics, he saw new life in this romantic comedy TV series. Dean Cain makes for a rather unimpressive Man of Steel but that didn't bother the legions of devotees who watched for the sex appeal between Superman and Lois. While the initial season showed potential, the series ultimately went down the same campy path as the Adam West Batman series.

A tabloid-sized paperback book written by Paul Dini and painted by fan-favorite Alex Ross. In this poignant tale, Superman is faced with a real world challenge that even he is powerless to stop.

This latest live-action TV adaption explored Superman's youth before ever putting on the costume. While the first couple of seasons showed promise, especially when Chris Reeve guest starred in a pivotal season 2 episode, later seasons had become increasingly unwatchable thanks to the ever-present teen angst moments and bad scripts.

Reprints some of the best covers to have graced Superman comics over the span of several decades. Light on reading but for comic book art enthusiasts or even a casual fan, this is a fun book.

A somewhat successful continuation of the Reeve films featuring tons of homages to previous Superman incarnations. The plot was rather disjointed and Routh's Superman was a little wooden for my liking, not to mention being a little light on action. WB has announced that it will not proceed with a sequel to this movie, instead opting for a complete reboot for the next film.

A very well sculpted 13-inch figure with an actual cloth costume and a tremendous amount of body articulation for all sorts of superheroic poses. Check eBay for cheaper prices.

This set features 4 different 6-inch Superman action figures each depicting different eras. The robotic Superman is a useless inclusion and should have been omitted or better yet, substituted for a better figure.

This straight-to-DVD animated feature has little in common with the comics it is based on or the 90s animated series that it resembles. The fight sequences are easily the best that has ever been captured with any Superman screen incarnation, although the violence is too much for kids. Recommended mostly for the completists.

Writer Geoff Johns' Superman stories are easily the best fans have read in years and artist Gary Frank's Chris Reeve inspired Superman likeness brings a level of realism and sentimentally that had been lacking in the Superman books. This collects their first storyline as a teenage Clark Kent encounters superheroes from the future.
