'The Song of Bernadette' is so effective, it makes Mary's visitation to Bernadette Soubirous plausible to some non-Catholics. The actors are marvelous: From a radiant Jennifer Jones to a snively Vincent Price, everyone is genuine and memorable. Always inspiring and sometimes even entertaining, Bernadette's song puts a human face on a series of divine events.

Once again Marlon Brando and Karl Malden give passionate performances. This time Malden plays a stalwart priest in the midst of a moral crises near the movie's title terrain.

Maria Falconetti plays Joan with conviction, conveying courage, fear, and fragileness. Director Carl Theodor Dreyer skillfully interweves shots, close ups, and editing that were ground breaking.

'The Mission' is an epic adventure of two Jesuit priests, played skillfully by Jeremy Irons and Robert DeNiro, who struggle with obedience and conversion.

Corny but forgivably likable, 'Boys' Town' has the proper spirit, and the combined talent of Spencer Tracy and Mickey Rooney give audiences an inspiring boost.

'The Nun's Story' tells a tale of a vocation that is tossed about by self-doubt, war, and third world poverty. Juggling all stories expertly and featuring a well-rounded performance by Audrey Hepburn as the conflicted Sister Burt, this film works hard at getting the religious aspects right. Despite the flaws of the main character, the movie is effective nonetheless.

With mysterious developments and marvelously genuine performances 'Miracle in the Rain' is a hidden ray of sunshine.
