The Teahouse FireThe Teahouse Fire by Ellis Avery
Buy new: $10.20 / Used from: $0.01
I enjoyed the theme of this book, especially with the Japanese words blended into the English text. Unfortunately, I didn't really like the writing style, with elements not being very well-developed and just haphazardly thrown in here and there. The end was especially sudden, and the epilogue was not really believable and was pretty ridiculous really.
Funny in Farsi: A Memoir of Growing Up Iranian in AmericaFunny in Farsi: A Memoir of Growing Up Iranian in America by Firoozeh Dumas
Buy new: $10.08 / Used from: $1.29
Entertaining and funny.
American FujiAmerican Fuji by Sara Backer
Buy used from: $0.01
Meh. Mostly fluffy tripe, and a murder-mystery at that.
Alias Grace: A NovelAlias Grace: A Novel by Margaret Atwood

ScoopScoop by Evelyn Waugh
Buy new: $10.19 / Used from: $3.33
MaryMary by Janis Cooke Newman
Buy new: $10.20 / Used from: $0.40
A tragic, but captivating novel about the world from Mary Lincoln's eyes.

The Reader (Movie Tie-in Edition) (Vintage International)The Reader (Movie Tie-in Edition) (Vintage International) by Bernhard Schlink
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01
The AmnesiacThe Amnesiac by Sam Taylor
Buy new: $11.90 / Used from: $0.01
It started off well enough, but just got so confusing and then dragged on in parts.
The Commoner: A Novel (Vintage Contemporaries)The Commoner: A Novel (Vintage Contemporaries) by John Burnham Schwartz
Buy new: $10.17 / Used from: $1.64
Crisp language, but too devoid of emotion. The plot jumped too much and the pace varied too much as well.
McTeague: A Story of San Francisco (Twentieth Century Classics)McTeague: A Story of San Francisco (Twentieth Century Classics) by Frank Norris
Buy new: $12.00 / Used from: $0.01
Ugh.
Tokyo FiancéeTokyo Fiancée by Amelie Nothomb
Buy new: $11.25 / Used from: $3.45
Ok enough story, but it went off on unrelated tangents that pulled away from the main plot and were honestly quite boring. I ended up not liking the author for how she treated Rinri later on.
The Post-Office Girl (New York Review Books Classics)The Post-Office Girl (New York Review Books Classics) by Stefan Zweig
Buy new: $10.08 / Used from: $6.95
A bit slow to progress, and the two parts of the book are vastly different. At first, I was glad for the main character'[s luck in visiting her aunt and uncle, and hoped something more would come of it. The rest just depressed me.
The Housekeeper and the Professor: A NovelThe Housekeeper and the Professor: A Novel by Yoko Ogawa
Buy new: $10.08 / Used from: $5.25
A lovely but touching story, very simply written.
The Price of SaltThe Price of Salt by Patricia Highsmith
Buy new: $10.04 / Used from: $5.87
Eh, it was ok. Kind of slow and a little boring.
The Easter Parade: A NovelThe Easter Parade: A Novel by Richard Yates
Buy new: $10.20 / Used from: $2.88
Very sparse and horribly depressing.
A Gesture Life: A NovelA Gesture Life: A Novel by Chang-rae Lee
Buy new: $10.20 / Used from: $0.01
Sad, but moving.
Fear of FlyingFear of Flying by Erica Jong
Buy new: $10.20 / Used from: $1.27
Intelligent and well-written. I really felt like I was in the main character's head, though I didn't always agree with her actions. I wish there were more books in this vein and style today, instead of all the fluffy "chick lit" crap out there.
A Confederacy of DuncesA Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole
Buy new: $10.20 / Used from: $0.98
Amazing detail, and the plot came together so nicely. It was hard not to continually dislike the main character though.
East of the Sun: A NovelEast of the Sun: A Novel by Julia Gregson
Buy new: $10.88 / Used from: $1.99
The intent of this book was rather interesting, but it was all handled so lightly and not necessarily in a compelling way.
RebeccaRebecca by Daphne Du Maurier
Buy new: $10.79 / Used from: $4.00
I really liked the style of writing and the plot was interesting for the most part. I had a hard time relating to some of the characters, especially the main character, just for how pathetic she was at times.
Good Mail Day: A Primer for Making Eye-Popping Postal ArtGood Mail Day: A Primer for Making Eye-Popping Postal Art by Jennie Hinchcliff
Buy new: $13.59 / Used from: $20.92
A really delightful book about mail art, including suggestions on your own, a bit of history on other mail artists, and more.
Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell: A NovelJonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell: A Novel by Susanna Clarke
Buy new: $10.85 / Used from: $0.01
At almost 900 pages in length, this book is quite a feat to read, but I think it's well worth the effort. I'm not usually fond of fairytale fiction with magic as the main theme, but the style of writing drew me in, and the plot had enough action to keep my interest.
