Bach surely meant for a 'Michael Chance' to sing the final 'Agnus Dei' in this Mass, for he brings forth a truly heavenly sound. Superb!

When Chance sings he is always in sync with the commposer-emotions are all there. Listen to Dowland's 'Lasso vita mia..' and Byrd's 'Lullaby, Sweet baby'; pregnant with meaning.

In the first aria'Chiamo il mio ben cosi'. So much sorrow and sense of loss, anger and desperation in Chance's voice-excellent portrayal of Orfeo throughtout the opera.

Act 2 aria:'Eccomi transformato'(I am transformed). Knife in hand, Ottone (Chance),his pain and suffering vocally apparent is forced to kill his lover. A truly remarkable display of Chance's dramatic ablity

Exotic, hypnotic and expertly performed by Chance in duet with the oboe. Different? yes! But oh, so sublime!

'Er barme dich' Weep with Chance on this one as he begs for God's mercy and forgiveness! I'M CONVINCED! Truly amazing emotional output.

'Le Spectre de la Rose'-Oh, what emotional depths Daniels brings forth in this sadly romantic Berlioz melody! GREAT singing!

Act 1 Aria 'Cara Sposa'(My dear betrothed) A familiar aria, but never before sung with such loving emotion and the usual perfect diction of Daniels.

Act 3 Aria 'Barbaro traditor' (barbarian,traitor). One of daniel's finest hours!!!!He actually frightened me with his ferocity- I was glad it wasn't directed at me.

Believe me when I say that this 'Nisi Dominus'as sung by Chance surpasses all others. His phrasing, his variation in tone quality and dynamics is perfection; I was thrilled throughout the entire disc.

A 1989 recording of 2 masses by Zelenka; absolutely breathtaking in content and implementation. Michael Chance has one of his most glorious sounding solos on this disc: 'Quoniam tu solus sanctus' in the Missa dei filii. I am delighted that this recording is available for all you M.C. and Zelenka fans. READ MY REVIEW.

Chance fans do not miss hearing this recording! The 'Agnus Dei' is incredibly beautiful and most critics agree that Chance's rendition is the best that has ever been recorded. I enjoyed the entire recording and it also has him singing more solos than on the Gardiner recording. It's all in my customer review.

This 1982 recording by the King's College Choir under the direction of Philip Ledger is one of the finest recordings of the music of Orlando Gibbons available today. It contains within it the best rendition of 'This is the record of John' with Michael Chance as soloist! So moving and so well sung by both Chance and the Choir.

A 1990 production featuring four countertenors, Michael Chance being the largest contributor, who sang a total of ten solos and three duets (with Bowman ) has provided me with one of his most mesmorizing moments. To HEAR and SEE him singing Bach's beautiful 'Vergnugte Ruh, beliebte Seelenlust' (cantata BWV 170) moved me to tears; highly emotional delivery, as only Chance singing Bach can provide!

DON'T MOVE,SIT PERFECTLY STILL, CLOSE YOUR EYES AND LISTEN TO MICHAEL CHANCE DELIVER WITH HIS GOLDEN-TONED ETHEREAL SOUND, THIS BREATH-TAKING BACH SOLO CANTATA '"Vernugte ruh" as if Bach were whispering in his ear!

A 1990 Hickox directed disc with some of Chance's most beautiful soloing; could be on some of the choruses also. Includes four other greats such as E. Kirkby, T. Bonner, JM Ainsley and S. Varcoe. Several listings of this; go for the best price. I could not bring up the re-issue, but there is one severl dollars cheaper.

An excellent re-release of an earlier recording with David Daniels, countertenor. This is one of his best recordings as far as variety and interest is concerned and no Daniel's fan should miss his fabulous rendition of Purcell's 'I'll Sail upon the Dogstar'!
