![]() | Sunset Boulevard (Special Collector's Edition)
Buy used from: $4.94 My favorite of the Billy Wilder directed films, this is my favorite classic film of all time. To this day, so many people have never heard of Gloria Swanson. William Holden was great too, this is my favorite role of his.
![]() | Clash by Night
Buy used from: $3.95 I have never seen a film with Barbara Stanwyck I didn't love. Drama, comedy, she did it all, and well. A must see if you love Stanwyck. This is one of those movies that stays in your mind long after you've seen it. Marilyn was in this movie too, not as a lead role but enjoyable still.
![]() | Gaslight
Buy new: $5.79 / Used from: $7.00 My favorite Bergman movie ever, one of my all time faves along with Sunset Blvd. This is one of the best thrillers I have ever seen, the acting is amazing on all the roles, Ingrid Bergman, Charles Boyer, and a very young Angela Lansbury. The husband slowly tries to drive the wife to insanity.
![]() | Now, Voyager (Keepcase)
Buy new: $5.79 / Used from: $10.57 Lets not get too far down the list without me adding a Bette Davis movie. A rarity of hers because it was a reversal of roles in this movie, she is not a villian-type character in this one. This is the very first black and white film I ever saw, and as a classic movie and Bette Davis fan, I have never looked back.
![]() | Casablanca
Buy new: $15.49 / Used from: $5.10 What can I say? It is what it is. 'Heres' lookin' at you, kid. Bogies most famous film out of them all, and one of my favorite Bergman films. There is a reason why this movie is consistently at the top of 'best movies of all times' lists along with Gone With The Wind and Citizen Kane.
![]() | Notorious - Digitally Remastered [Non-US Format, Region 2, Pal, Import]
Its no secret that Hitchcock was one of the best directors ever, and one of my personal favorite people. Maybe you are only familiar with Psycho, but this is an great thriller with Ingrid Bergman, Gregory Peck and Claude Rains. Hitchcock infamously got away with the movie code that existed by getting away with a long screen kiss by adding different shots of the same scene.
![]() | The Letter
Buy new: $5.79 / Used from: $3.00 The first few minutes of this film take away my breath every time I watch this, Bette Davis standing, holding a smoking gun. Just these few minutes of the movie alone are worth seeing. She was at the top of her game in this movie, if you admire her work at all, you should really check this out. William Wyler should not be confused with Billy Wilder, he deserves a lot of credit and respect too.
![]() | It Happened One Night [Region 2]
A very memorable romantic comedy with Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert. She ended up hating this film, but it is one of my favorites with Colbert. Gable, of course, is as charming as ever.
![]() | Gone with the Wind
Buy used from: $9.96 Is usually tied with Citizen Kane and Casablanca as best movie ever, this film put Vivian Leigh on the map, and rightfully so. Hattie McDaniel won an academy award for her role. She was the first black woman to win an Academy Award for a movie role, she also starred in many other great movies as well.
![]() | All About Eve
Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $4.00 One of the classic Bette Davis lines comes from this film, as she descends the staircase, 'fasten your seatbelts, its going to be a bum-py night.'
![]() | Roman Holiday
Buy used from: $8.09 Audrey Hepburns first lead role in a movie, directed by Wyler, in which she won an academy award. This also stars Gregory Peck, and it is a fun movie to watch. One of the most charming women I like to see in classic movies.
![]() | Vertigo [Region 2]
Buy used from: $4.86 James Stewart and Kim Novak. You can't go wrong, they had a great chemistry in the films they starred together in. It would be pointless to name each Hitchcock film, but I love them all. This one is no less amazing than the rest.
![]() | Rebecca [ NON-USA FORMAT, PAL, Reg.2 Import - Great Britain ]
Buy used from: $23.97 Joan Fontaine is one of the lesser known actresses from those days, but she should have been up there with the best of them. She won the Academy Award for her role. This movie is a great thriller you should not pass up, one of the lesser known Hitchcock films.
![]() | The Little Foxes
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $4.99 Can you tell I am a huge Bette Davis fan? This movie is all about greed, another great one.
![]() | The Misfits
Buy used from: $2.45 An underrated film, Clark Gables very last, and Marliyn Monroe is good in this one. Of course, there have always been the people who said she didn't act, she was just being herself, true for most, but this one is a little different.
![]() | Breakfast at Tiffany's
Buy new: $12.98 / Used from: $3.49 The definitive Audrey Hepburn film, a great romantic comedy, has a lot of laugh out loud moments. Also has great music, courtesy of Henry Mancini. It isn't so much like the book, but who cares? Its Audrey Hepburn!
![]() | The Alfred Hitchcock Collection Vol. 1 (Psycho / Vertigo / Alfred Hitchcock Presents Vol. 1)
Buy used from: $19.49 Psycho is obviously Hitchcocks most famous movie, even people who don't know who Hitchcock is are familiar with it. An insanely good thriller (pun intended.)
![]() | Portrait of Jennie
Buy new: $11.49 / Used from: $8.49 Gorgeous Jennifer Jones and Joseph Cotten, one of the lesser known but well admired films. One of those kinds of films that sticks with you long after you've seen it. I would recommend it to anyone who likes the drama/thriller type of films.
![]() | The Women (Keepcase)
Buy new: $15.49 / Used from: $9.80 The title of this movie is literally, the women only, there is not a single man in it. Love or hate Joan Crawford, this movie is great. Excellent study of what happens when gossip is passed around. And like the movie, the bad relationship with Shearer carried into real life from what I hear. Also stars Rosalind Russell.
![]() | Wait Until Dark
Buy new: $14.49 / Used from: $8.99 This is a great thriller, Hepburn played a convincingly good part of a blind woman. She took lessons and studied with the blind for this part. I can think of a few modern day movies that were obviously inspired by this one.
![]() | Jezebel
Buy used from: $6.76 Another good Bette Davis must see, it also stars Henry Fonda.
![]() | Alfred Hitchcock 6 DVD Collection ( Rebecca / Suspicion / Mr. & Mrs. Smith / Spellbound / N ) [ NON-USA FORMAT, PAL, Reg.2 Import - Spain ]
Suspicion is an excellent Hitchcock movie that stars Joan Fontaine and Cary Grant, in a different role than you are used to seeing him in. My favorite Cary Grant movie.
![]() | Bringing Up Baby (Two-Disc Special Edition)
Buy used from: $14.88 Deservedly called one of the best comedies ever, stars Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant.
![]() | Sabrina
Buy used from: $5.24 Another good Billy Wilder film, he also directed Hepburn in Love In The Afternoon. Stars Bogart and William Holden, who in real life loved Audrey Hepburn.
![]() | Cape Fear
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $3.97 Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum star in this dramatic thriller, Mitchum to me was up on the scale with Bogart.
![]() | Cool Hand Luke
Buy used from: $3.34 Classic Paul Neuman film about a group of people in a chaingang. One of my very favorites of all his films.
![]() | Dark Passage (Keepcase)
Buy new: $5.79 / Used from: $4.26 Who could forget the pairing of Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall? This is my favorite movie starring the pair.
![]() | The Public Enemy
Buy new: $14.49 / Used from: $2.37 James Cagney, one of the greats, and Jean Harlow, would have been if only she hadn't passed away at such a young age. This is a great movie if you love gangster films. Cagney was the king in these movies. Also recommended with Harlow, is Red Dust, which also stars Clark Gable.
![]() | The Children's Hour
Buy new: $12.49 / Used from: $7.11 The other charming Hepburn actress. Her most serious movie role, other than Wait Until Dark, though this one has a darker vibe. It came from a Lillian Hellman play with the same title, this movie was controversial, with an impressive role played by Shirley Maclaine.
![]() | Rear Window [Region 2]
Buy used from: $5.10 James Stewart, Grace Kelly, excellent movie. Hard to believe the whole entire film was actually a convincingly real movie set. Another must-see by director Alfred Hitchcock.
![]() | What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?
Buy used from: $10.00 Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, two of classic films most notorious divas, pitted against one another in a movie together? About an aging alcoholics descent into madness and the torment her sister goes through because of it, classic thriller.
![]() | The Postman Always Rings Twice
Buy new: $15.99 / Used from: $8.80 One of my favorite dramatic thrillers, and it is both my favorite Lana Turner, and John Garfield film. The ending is a very memorable one, this movie is not to be missed, or forgotten once it has been seen!
![]() | Days of Wine and Roses
Buy new: $5.79 / Used from: $11.34 Beautiful, dramatic and depressing film starring Jack Lemmon. This film proves the fact that his acting range was not only limited to comedic roles. Must-see for any fan of his movies.
![]() | The Odd Couple
Buy used from: $5.09 Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon had a great chemistry in this film together, about two mismatched roomates and the problems they deal with. Dramatic as well as comedic.
![]() | The Lady from Shanghai
Buy new: $18.49 / Used from: $5.43 Just amazing, a classic, dark, film noir, written and directed by Orson Welles. Rita Hayworth and Welles starred in this together, while they were still married. One of my favorite of all of Welles' films, and the famous amusement park scene towards the end is not to be missed.
