Probably the coolest comic I've ever seen. Perfect document of today's comic avant-guard. Pretty much every page is done by a different artist. On a more personal note, it continues the Building Cities story that starts in Acme Novelty Library #16, which is a personal favorite story for me.

It's amazing and completely entrancing from the beginning, but by the end of the first half, everything changes and it goes off in a completely different direction. Interestingly somber and emotionless art that conveys so much emotional depth in its tone.

Some of the first comics were wordless woodcut picture- novels made in Germany during the depression in the 20s and this is my personal favorite of what I've seen.

A collection of French comic short stories from a well known French author. I've heard that the English reprint is much lower quality than the originals, but I still thought it was stuning.

At first simply flabbergasting, but the smallest scenes from this can really stand out to show the possibilities of comics while continuing to haunt you, waking or dreaming.

Completely masterful art and a story so dense, it deserves your complete attention for about a week to fully understand and appreciate it. Don't rush this one, it likes to be read slowly.

Often not thought of as a comic artist, Briggs' books are usually sold as children's stories, but in this case that couldn't be much farther from the truth.

I think this is the best work I've seen from Bill Sienkiewicz. His style is so apparent here, but while maintaining a really clear story told in large part though song lyrics and quoted sections from Hendrix' private journals. This also comes with a CD of home recordings.

Hits my subconscious just right and takes me back to a childlike world of unexplainable mystery.

Like everything I've read from Bryan Talbot, this is a very well researched and multi-layered story. Here he deals with child abuse and I've heard this book is sometimes used for therapy in abuse cases.

This collects tons of shorter Will Eisner stories, many of them as short as one page. All of them symbolize an aspect of city life.
