Buy new: $534.00 / Used from: $479.95 Very sharp for the price. IS is a great feature. Ive got some nice nighttime moon/daylight wildlife shots with this lens. Not quite fast enough to freeze fast-action unless it's very bright outside, so don't expect it to be a great lens for evening/night games or indoor sports unless it's very bright. CONS: front element rotates when focusing, (only an issue if using a polarizer).

Buy new: $1,399.00 / Used from: $1,398.00 I actually have the lens this one replaced (17-35mm f/2.8L) which is no longer available. Both are great lenses. Very sharp and you can't beat the f2.8 for a low-light zoom. Not quite "ultra wide" on a 1.6x crop camera like the 40D, but it is wide enough for sweeping landscapes and indoor shots.

Buy new: $10.75 Works great for taking out the harsh hilights from photos. I'm not sure it's that much better than bounce flash (when you can use it) but it's certainly an advantage in situations when you can't use bounce. I actually have a generic knock-off of this brand, after all, it's just a piece of plastic!
