"I need the eggs" The last line of this Woody Allen film is the punchline to a joke but also a wise touching commentary on life.

"First be sure you're right, then go ahead". Quotation from Davy. Simple and simplistic? But how much better the world would be if we all practised that with wisdom and determination.

"Snap out of it!" Surprising, shocking, funny and a very real moment. A well directed and acted scene.

W.C.FIELDS....I can give away this joke and you'll still enjoy it. Fields asks a bartender: "Did I spend $20 in here last night?" Bartender: Yes. Fields: "What a load off my mind! I thought I'd lost it!"

"I am the master of this house." (You have to see it to appreciate and understand it.)

(Bogart and Bacall kissing.) Bogart: What did you do that for? Bacall: I wanted to see if I'd like it. Bogart: What's the decision? Bacall: I don't know yet. THEY KISS AGAIN: Bacall: It's even better when you help.

Three separate examples. #1.....Bogart: She tried to sit in my lap when I was standing up. #2..... Woman: Is he as cute as you? Bogart: Nobody is. #3....That guy would knock my teeth out, then kick me in the stomach for mumbling.

Crook: Go ahead. Keep riding me and they'll be picking lead out of your liver. Bogart: The cheaper the crook, the gaudier the patter.

"Don't let the flower fool you!" (from INTERNATIONAL HOUSE) It's amazing, what only W.C. could get away with.... in the 1930's !!!!

I have affection for this line because I used to use a variation of it long before this movie was made. Example(if I was speaking to a woman named Susan): "And you're coming to the party surely....I mean, Susan."

"I'm walkin' here! I'm walkin' here". Supposedly a line improvised by Dustin Hoffman as Ratso Rizzo when accidently bumped by a car during live shooting in a Manhattan intersection.Talk about staying in character!(Sort of an "I AM I SAID" Neil Diamond affirmation by an abandoned soul.)

Shane says: " A gun is just a tool,Marian, like an axe,shovel,anything. A gun is as good or as bad as the man using it. Remember that." (I guess Shane was a Republican!)

Many famous lines from this film but my favorite is "Round up the usual suspects." A short line that briefly says so much about the state of affairs in the city.

"How are you gonna get down that hill?"

Arlo's line to the cop who takes his belt away as Arlo is jailed.

This one is more 'memorable' than a 'favorite'. It is an ugly insult to a woman's advances, delivered in a really nasty way by Gene Hackman to Jennifer Warnes. It's one thing to be judgemental, it's another to be cruel.

"The sun does NOT spit morning into the face of the village!!!!!!!" A well-delivered line from Barbra Streisand expressing the hooker's disdain for overly pretentious literature.

"Serpentine!" by Peter Falk in the very superior original of this comedy. I know it's a very minor line and not a har-de-har, but it's cute and amusing.

Another line from a great play on film,LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT. "You have to make allowances for this damned family or go nuts!" Probably could be said about most families, but such an understatement in this case is laughable.
