Most of Gord's hit singles and album material were his own compositions. But I happen to believe his recording of Kristofferson's ME AND BOBBIE McGEE is the best version of that country/pop classic.

His music was prominent in the soundtrack of the Robert Altman lyrical western McCabe and Mrs. Miller, with Warren Beatty and Julie Christie.

My favorite songs of his: MARY HAD A BABY, A-LA, WONDERING WHERE THE LIONS ARE..and..WAITING FOR A MIRACLE. Bruce is a Christian, a leftie socialist one. He does a lot of valuable work for the Christian Children's Fund.(That's not why I labelled him as 'leftie socialist'.) I'm sure he'd agree anyway.

Title song was a big hit in Canadaand the theme for a brand of tea). His other best would include: MY ELUSIVE DREAMS, Theme from THE MISSOURI BREAKS(the Brando/Nicholson/Arthur Penn western) and STAY A WHILE.

Also wrote MY WAY ....and the TONIGHT SHOW THEME...and ANYTIME(I'll Be There)(a great Sinatra song, a single only) and DO I LOVE YOU, a good hit love song that Anka himself recorded.

Spent most of his career based in Toronto, but came year in his 20's from Arkansas.Also known as 'Rompin' Ronnie Hawkins, or 'The Hawk'. He's a good friend of Kristofferson and was in the audience for Kris' concert here this year.

SEASONS IN THE SUN was pretty much a one-hit-wonder for Terry Jacks, brother of Susan, lead singer of the Poppy Family. The song is often mocked for sentimentality. Easy to do if a slow lingering death hasn't touched you yet, I suppose.
