I'm still a beginner with Pilates, but Brooke Siler's information about the powerhouse (in English, that means your abs, ribs, waist and thighs) has been the best. I found that after I learned how to "keep my powerhouse engaged," I could actually do things like push ups, which I could never do before. In every other exercise I've tried, there's something out of this book that I can apply.

This is fun. I sometimes use weights in the workouts for more resistance (but instead of "punching," I just extend, to avoid injury to the joints). Also, with modifications, you can do the arms and legs workouts in an upstairs apartment At least I think so; I haven't asked the downstairs neighbor what she thinks about it.

Loving this so far. It is closer to calisthenics than bellydance, but she incorporates dance moves into the calisthenics which makes the routines fun to do and rather graceful. For advanced folks, this probably isn't too much of a workout. I mostly pick one or two of the routines for warm up or cool down.

You got the book, now get the CD, in which Brooke Siler guides you through workouts at the right speed and with just enough visualization to keep you doing the moves correctly. There are multiple parts of the CD, so you can progress at your own pace. I lost the workbook that came with this, but it was pretty much a short version of her first book so I just use that.

This DVD breaks down the bellydance workout moves really well. Michelle Joyce tells you what to do with your feet, where you should be feeling the movement, etc. The breakdown has been fun so far. The workout on this tape is a little complicated for klutzy me, but I hope to progress to it someday. I also sing karaoke, and Michelle Joyce and Rania Bossonis have done wonders for my choreography.
