La Lengua PopularLa Lengua Popular by Andrés Calamaro
Buy new: $9.98 / Used from: $2.99
Incredible and strong album with great intricate melodies, and absolutely honest and "unique & from the heart" lyrics. Undoubtedly Argentinean. Effortlessly clever.
Limon y SalLimon y Sal by Julieta Venegas
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $6.50
Perfectly simple, sweet, and beautiful pop with joyful melodies.
12 Segundos de Oscuridad12 Segundos de Oscuridad by Jorge Drexler
Buy new: $9.98 / Used from: $0.59
Complex and smooth production, chill atmosphere, and very South American melodies with universal/world influences (especially bossa-nova, electronica, tango, folk, and boleros.) A bare yet grand sound mixture. Overall a great and consistent album that one can listen to without skipping a song.
Faltan LunasFaltan Lunas by Fey
Buy new: $12.98 / Used from: $2.93
Pure delicious pop, a la "Kyle Minogue" but with more "melancholy & sweetness" and less sex and attitude.
Dulce BeatDulce Beat by Belanova
Buy new: $13.98 / Used from: $5.67
Pop-extreme bordering flamboyance and tackiness but stopping right at the verge of just the wrong time. Great vocals and production, with astute melodies. Think Aqua (the group) in Spanish with stronger very slightly rockier-inspired melodies. Listen to the little gems: Rosa Pastel, Escena Final, and Talvez.
The Boy with No NameThe Boy with No Name by Travis
Buy used from: $2.88
Neither as sweet nor as dark as previous Travis albums --- somewhere in between. Best track on the album is "My Eyes", which is a little pop masterpiece almost up there with "Sing."
Yours to KeepYours to Keep by Jr. Albert Hammond
Buy new: $13.98 / Used from: $2.52
A hidden gem. A little unknown pop work-of-art. If you like Electronic (the group), and/or The Strokes, you will likely not be disappointed.
