Deep PurpleDeep Purple by Deep Purple
Buy used from: $13.88
This is the third DP album, and was the last one for the original line-up. At that point, DP were a popular band in the States, and were considered to be one of the most exciting progressive rock bands. There are some traces of things to come, but not heavy metal tunes in this piece of work. In many ways, that's the best thing that came from Mk I.
In Rock: 25th Anniversary (UK)In Rock: 25th Anniversary (UK) by Deep Purple
Buy new: $17.99 / Used from: $4.41
That's the beginning of DP as the world came to know them... as part of the Zeppelin /Sabbath/ Purple package, "In Rock" gives us the foundations of the heavy metal genre that became the most succesful rock sub-genre. The new band (featuring Roger Glover & Ian Gillan) created this masterpiece for all of us to enjoy
Machine HeadMachine Head by Deep Purple
Buy new: $19.98 / Used from: $6.98
I tend to think about this one as not just one of the best DP albums ever... it actually is one of the best heavy metal albums ever, even one of the best rock albums ever. Actually if there would be a list of the best popular music to ever be released, "Machine Head" must be there.
Made in JapanMade in Japan by Deep Purple
Buy new: $19.98 / Used from: $5.99
Recorded while on tour for the "Machine Head" album. That's the definitive live album.
BurnBurn by Deep Purple
Buy used from: $17.30
Right after the defunction of the colossal MkII, Coverdale & Hughes injected new enthusiasm to the original guys and they all managed to do an awesome collection of songs.
Perfect StrangersPerfect Strangers by Deep Purple
Buy new: $37.99 / Used from: $8.95
1984. That was the year, MKII decided to work again. That was the 80's, so DP created a contemporary album that sounded fresh and still retained the feel of their early stuff
Live at the Olympia '96Live at the Olympia '96 by Deep Purple
Buy new: $25.98 / Used from: $8.12
No DP live album has sounded as good as this one since the untouchable "Made In Japan". Blackmore's out, Morse is in. The band was firing on all cylinders touring behind "Purpendicular" (the so-called rebirth album)
BananasBananas by Deep Purple
Buy new: $9.98 / Used from: $6.44
Lord's out, Airey is in. New Millenium and DP are capable of writing one of their most memeorable albums ever.
