![]() | My Sister, My Love: The Intimate Story of Skyler Rampike (P.S.) by Joyce Carol Oates
Buy new: $10.87 / Used from: $1.99 I am halfway through this and I can't put it down. Absolutely hilarious. A parody of the jonbenet case, but so far it is not about the murder, just about the dysfunction of a social-climbing upper-class, suburban family. Told through the son/brother's point of view. Fake memoir. Very dark and very, very funny.

![]() | Twenties Girl (Thorndike Press Large Print Basic Series) by Sophie Kinsella
Buy new: $27.16 / Used from: $19.99 I can't believe this, but I actually had to put it down! I just couldn't get into the ghost thing... it was too unbelievable and what has drawn me to Kinsella in the past is how easy it is to relate to her characters.

![]() | What Was She Thinking? : Notes on a Scandal: A Novel by Zoe Heller
Buy used from: $3.05 Brilliant. Entertaining, smart, funny, risky....a must read.
![]() | The Effect of Living Backwards by Heidi Julavits
Buy new: $11.90 / Used from: $0.01 Currently reading..put it down :-( I think I will try again at a later date. Seemed well-written, but not quite as light as I was looking for.
![]() | Arlington Park by Rachel Cusk
Buy used from: $5.00 Half way through I couldn't figure out the point. Too slow....
![]() | Morningside Heights: A Novel by Cheryl Mendelson
Buy new: $10.20 / Used from: $3.97 Amazing. What a true work of great literary fiction. It was interesting, terribly well-written, and a bit suspenseful. I am thrilled this is the first of a trilogy! (But I am savoring the next two...)
![]() | American Wife: A Novel (New York Times Notable Books) by Curtis Sittenfeld
Buy new: $10.20 / Used from: $1.22 This book is hard to put down. It is wonderfully written, funny and sad, and terribly clever. I am sad it is over!
![]() | The Idea of Love by Megan Louis
Buy new: $11.86 / Used from: $12.60 One word: hilarious. Absolutely hilarious. I don't know how she comes up with these supporting characters, but they are what make the book. It was a very fast read and I couldn't put it down. I read it in one sitting.
![]() | To Have and To Hold: A Novel by Jane Green
Buy new: $9.32 / Used from: $0.16 I had trouble finishing this. It was a bit tedious. Overly descriptive. A bit slow. But I might pick it back up.
![]() | The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets by Eva Rice
Buy new: $11.20 / Used from: $0.01 What a great find! This book was absolutely charming and a true joy to read. I wish I could find more by this author.
![]() | Shopaholic & Sister by Sophie Kinsella
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01 A little predictable, but nevertheless fun. I think, though, that at this point, I prefer some Sophie Kinsella's stand alone books. Looking forward to reading Twenties Girl.
![]() | Revolutionary Road (Movie Tie-in Edition) (Vintage Contemporaries) by Richard Yates
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01 I read the book before seeing the movie. The book was amazing and the movie was about as close an adaptation as you can get. Brilliant.
![]() | Beginner's Greek: A Novel by James Collins
Buy new: $10.19 / Used from: $0.01 This was yet another great find. I wasn't sure what to make of this one. The synopsis didn't seem terribly compelling, but I was in the mood for something light and it seemed like it would do. I was pleasantly surprised. There was much more to the plot that was described on the back. A little predictable, but well worth the read.
![]() | One Fifth Avenue by Candace Bushnell
Buy new: $12.79 / Used from: $0.01 I didn't like it as much as her others, unfortunately. I actually couldn't finish it, but I think I will pick it back up at some point. I do stand by Bushnell, even if this wasn't her finest.
![]() | All My Worst Qualities by Megan Louis
Buy new: $13.05 / Used from: $6.99 Another great find. I loved the antics of this likeable heroine. Nothing like masquerading as a practicing Jew over the holidays to get yourself into a boatload of trouble. I knew the heroine was bound to be caught, eventually, so I was a little nervous wondering how it would all go down.
![]() | Godchildren by Nicholas Coleridge
Buy new: $11.51 / Used from: $5.26 Brilliant, as ever. I wasn't sure he could top A Much Married Man, but this was great. Descriptive, vivid, and slightly creepy. Another true epic by a master storyteller.
![]() | A Tale of Two Sisters by Anna Maxted
Buy new: $11.20 / Used from: $0.01 I felt this was a departure from her first three books, but I liked it. It was a pretty quick read and I had trouble truly connecting with the characters and engrossing myself in the book, but it wasn't bad.
![]() | The Reader (Movie Tie-in Edition) (Vintage International) by Bernhard Schlink
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01 Depressing! I loved the first half and hated the second. I will not be watching the movie.
![]() | Young Hearts Crying (Vintage Contemporaries) by Richard Yates
Buy new: $10.85 / Used from: $3.37 This is the second book I have read by Yates. He is probably one of the most gifted writers from a technical standpoint. Not as good as Revolutionary Road, and definitely similar, but still worth reading.
![]() | This Charming Man: A Novel by Marian Keyes
Buy new: $16.47 / Used from: $1.63 Very surprising storyline...what, with an abusive leading man, a house full of 'trannies'...but I loved this book. It was hard to decide which heroine appealed the most. Keyes is truly the Queen of Chick Lit.
![]() | On Chesil Beach by Ian McEwan
Buy new: $10.04 / Used from: $0.01 Slow and uneventful. Slightly dumb and frustrating. I found it hard to validate the main characters, but the ending made up for the majority.
![]() | The Room-Mating Season (Mira) by Rona Jaffe
Buy used from: $0.01 The last by Jaffe. Again, not as good as The Best of Everything, and almost, in some ways, a poor knock-off of a classic, but I did enjoy this quite a bit. I just wish it had been longer!
