Alive: The Story of the Andes Survivors (Avon Nonfiction)Alive: The Story of the Andes Survivors (Avon Nonfiction) by Piers Paul Read
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01
This was the first authorized book and a great place to start if you would like to learn more about this amazing epic of human survival. It's not fictionalized at any point and is very detailed, due to the fact that the author conducted interviews with the survivors and their families during the writing of Alive. This edition also includes photos and maps.

AliveAlive
Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $8.55
Partially fictionalized storyline based on the book; some names have been changed, most notably Marcelo Perez (played by Vincent Spano), who was captain of the rugby team. Film opens and ends with narration by John Malkovich (Awesome!), as aged survivor Carlitos Páez. This dvd also includes the documentary Alive: 20 Years Later which has interviews with some survivors and visits to the film set.
Miracle in the Andes: 72 Days on the Mountain and My Long Trek HomeMiracle in the Andes: 72 Days on the Mountain and My Long Trek Home by Nando Parrado
Buy new: $10.08 / Used from: $4.95
Told from the perspective of Nando Parrado, probably the most well-known of the 16 survivors. He is also one of the two who successfully trekked out of the Andes for help. Through Nando's eyes, you will endure the struggle for survival and even see others in a different light, in particular Roy Harley, who is portrayed in the film adaptation as weak.
StrandedStranded
Buy new: $23.49 / Used from: $13.17
WOW! This documentary has interviews with ALL of the survivors interspersed with short dramatic scenes of actors portraying related events. I was especially moved to hear from Javier Methol, who lost his wife in the tragedy. This dvd is in Spanish, but there are subtitles available. In my opinion, this is the best documentary material available on the Andes survivors.
Survive (Supervivientes de los Andes)Survive (Supervivientes de los Andes)
Buy new: $9.95 / Used from: $3.68
This Mexican film by René Cardona Jr was hastily made and it shows! Talk about sensationalism and bad movie making. This film obviously was released only to capitalize on the fact that the survivors resorted to cannibalism. If cannibalism is what you are interested in or if you just happen to like really cheesy Mexican disaster films, then this movie is for you!
Survive!Survive! by Clay, Blair

This is the unauthorized book that the unauthorized film Survive was based on. Again, the focus here is the eating of human flesh.
THE HIGHEST HELL, First Full Account of the Andes Air Crash,THE HIGHEST HELL, First Full Account of the Andes Air Crash, by Enrique Hank Lopez
Again, this is one of those rushed books that came out shortly after the survivors were rescued, focusing on the cannibalism aspect.

Yet another sensationalist book once again focusing on the cannibalism that occurred on the mountain.

Unfortunately I don't own this book yet so I can't review it, but it was written by Carlos Paez Vilaro, the father of the youngest of the 16 survivors (Carlitos Paez).
sociedad de la nieve, La (Spanish Edition)sociedad de la nieve, La (Spanish Edition) by Pablo Vierci
Buy new: $14.96 / Used from: $16.06
I haven't read this yet, but this appears to basically be a book equivalent of the amazing film documentary Stranded. Each survivor gives his account of the accident, how it influenced their lives and how they are living today.
