These trios for baryton, viola and cello are the utmost in relaxing and beautiful, resonant music. The baryton is a wonderful instrument that Haydn wrote almost 200 works for.

The two sonatas for guitar and violin by Paganini illustrate his mastery of the guitar as well as the violin. The music is infectious. The Giuliani is also pretty good.

These engaging and melodious string quartets, written when Rossini was 12, show remarkable maturity. The unusual scoring for 2 violins, cello and double bass gives equal emphasis to all four instruments. Entirely charming.

Although the Dussek and the Hummel are enjoyable, get this one for the Onslow, an adaptation of his fourth symphony. The melodies are infectious and he gets a "big symphony" sound from the small quintet.

Heavenly Mozart divermenti played very very well.

These quintets for guitar, 2 violins, viola and cello are Boccherini at his best. Lovely melodies with intertwined parts with the guitar accentuated lead to snappy music with melodies that will stay with you for hours on end. Two thumbs way, way up.

Late 19th century and early 20th century chamber music by the American Arthur Foote is immediately attractive. Some of the best music from the end of the Romantic era - or anytime for that matter.
