He's an undercover cop struggling to maintain his relationship with his son, who against the words of his peers knows his father (exposed to the world as a criminal in order to maintain his cover) is a hero. I've listed the Dimension Films version which includes an English dub.

Instead of challenges and voting off ceremonies, each kid is given a weapon and told to kill their classmates. Last kid standing gets to go home. Their teacher, who shoots one of the questioning students dead, is the referee. Fight. Sequel's okay.
