Malick is painting cinematically and his shots of the natural landscape are breathtakingly beautiful. His style is distinct and carries forward to The New World 25 yrs later.

The amazing shots of "Woody Guthrie" running through fields at sunset and jumping a train -- and all the train shots with him for that matter made me add this film immediately to my amazon purchase list. But styling doesn't get much better than Heath Ledger and Charlotte Gainsbourg walking arm and arm in the Greenwich Village scenes.
