Just beautiful...started as a solo project,but transformed into more. raw production, haunting vocals, great songs.

can't have a list without this definitive post-rock masterpiece, almost ten years later and it still sounds fresh

possibly my favorite record of all time...the songs are beautiful and heart wrenching, and with the horns, and synth, and low fi precussion, ive never heard anything else quite like it, especially considering when it was released.perfection.

tragically little-known psych rock duo from the late 60's. they work with an Oscillator which gives their sound an almost electronic vibe to it...very unique, more people are being turned on to their sound

newer indie rock thats actually good. sometimes i cant get over how much he sounds like Beck (hes in wolf parade too) but i cant deny that this is a very good record.

it wouldnt be a list without her, everything she touches is brilliant in my book. i love her too much for words. this record's theme is built on vocals vocals vocals...includes mike patton and rahzel. pure genius...listen to it with headphones if you want yr mind blown

Excellent record from the elephant 6 collective, i would say its their seminal work.

probably what the beach boys would have sounded like had brian wilson not lost his mind...but this record from "ANIMAL COLLECTIVE" drummer panda is dense and beautiful...but i would check out animal collective first (see below)

my favorite from the psych-folk master

I couldnt help it...this brooklyn noise/folk group seems to always be recording albums, and their influences are clear, but they go places that sound like dreams and nightmares all at once. the newer record might be more accessable

Weird indie rock, i cant really put my finger on what makes them so unique, but isaac brock's vocals have something to do with it...even though they've flirted with commercial success, they still put out great records with great songs...and theyre still weird.

the new sound of prog...everything came together on this record. they combine everything from guitar distortion, to electronic noise,tradional spanish folk and samba with experimental production and arrangements...but what makes this album special is the great songs. it is quite rare to balance experimentation and songwriting.

Beck at his most unique and creative. It delves into folk, hip hop, electronics, and even country... the double cd includes all the B-sides and remixes (well, almost all) during the odelay period. Definitely his opus.

The birth of IDM, aphex twin creates eerily beautiful electronic compositions that make the skin crawl...these pieces still ooze originality, which is quite an accomplishment in this progress ridden genre. its as creepy today as it was during its release
