Johann Wenzel Kalliwoda 1801-1866, a Schubert Contemporary ,who has been a Violinist and his String Quartets have a very virtous Violin , but also much Melody and this CD is very good recorded,-Its a very good Release in many Aspects, especially his 3rd String Quartet stands out, but also the other 2 Quartets are much more than average works,-but the 3rd is a little Masterpiece and a great work !

Two of the best russian String Quartets, Alexander Borodin 1833-1887

The Octet by Joseph Joachim Raff 1822-1882 belongs to his better Works, but i think the Piano Concerto by Raff is the first Work to get, witch you can find in my List with Piano Concertos,- but this is also well worth to listen to

this includes the essential Schubert Works,- there is also a another release called late Beethoven

A Collection with the most famous String Serenades,- witch are somethig like orchestral Quartets without winds

Franz Anton Hoffmeister 1754-1812, a Mozart Contemporary,- Quintets with oboe , quite cheerful not complicated classical era works,- if you like Quartets or Quintets with Wind Instruments,-its a very fine cd

This CD with Joseph Eybler 1765-1846 Works is perhaps a little bit better recorded , than cd above ,- but its quite difficult to say , what is the best of this two,- both have melodious works, but this has the better sound !

Michael Haydn 1737-1806 , some of his Symphonies are first rate , but his String Quintets realy also have quite good Moments
