The Red Violin (Remastered) (Meridian Collection)The Red Violin (Remastered) (Meridian Collection)

It is not often you find a movie where the main character is an inanimate object. And if that did not get your attention, then maybe the phenomenal score and set designs will. And despite the film's nature, Sam Jackson still manages to deliver a rant. Another modern classic... the film, not the rant.
Clash of the Titans (Snap Case)Clash of the Titans (Snap Case)
Buy new: $5.79 / Used from: $3.98
The best of Greek mythology is one of the most beloved Ray Harryhausen works. And who doesn't enjoy Greek mythology...?
True Romance - Director's Cut (Two-Disc Special Edition)True Romance - Director's Cut (Two-Disc Special Edition)
Buy new: $8.66 / Used from: $4.39
"Love at First Sight" turns violent, add drugs, guns, and Elvis; mix in fiendishly clever cameos throughout the film - a dash of insanity, kung fu, comic books, and a love of coffee and pie and you have a powerful film.
GhostbustersGhostbusters
Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $1.49
A modern classic comedy that dwells within great character acting, spectacular effects (at the time), and even a moment of serious theological discourse. And then you have Rick Moranis...
The MexicanThe Mexican
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $0.85
Another film where the main character is an inanimate object. Another film wherein Brad Pitt takes us on a journey - this time through a backwards rediscovery of the power and truth of love. Sappy yes, but much more endurable than most romantic comedies.
In the Mouth of MadnessIn the Mouth of Madness
Buy new: $5.79 / Used from: $2.64
Perhaps the best Lovecraftian film, and perhaps due to the fact that it is not directly based on a particular tale by Lovecraft himself. One man dares to discover the truth... and in a world that even bares slight resemblance to a Mythos tale, that is always the first step towards the end.
The Toxic AvengerThe Toxic Avenger
Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $11.99
It's a Troma film first of all, and it was the first. You have been warned. Horrible acting, laughable effects, camp piled on camp upon camp. It is a 'must see to believe' because not only has it spawned sequels, but the production company continues to this day. They are the best of the worst, and proud of it. And that makes them mighty.
MindhuntersMindhunters
Buy new: $17.99 / Used from: $2.00
An intense character driven low-budget film about FBI profiles in a training mission gone wrong. Some may find it predictable, others it will keep guessing. I find it fun.
The Illusionist (Widescreen Edition)The Illusionist (Widescreen Edition)
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $2.75
Edward Norton has exhibited a wide range of characters in his career, but in this film we see one man use spectacular talent to defy the perceptions of those around him all in the name of love.
The Best ManThe Best Man
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $3.66
Some things just shouldn't be said, even among friends. But then again, friends are forever, right? This ensemble cast engages you from start to finish... just make sure you watch through the credits.
For Love of the GameFor Love of the Game
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $1.69
The one sort of movie Kevin Costner has always done well is the baseball genre. The film of one man's re-examination of his life and pitching a possible perfect game may well be the perfect baseball movie. And if not, it still remains my favorite.
Fight Club (Two-Disc Collector's Edition)Fight Club (Two-Disc Collector's Edition)
Buy new: $13.99 / Used from: $4.46
"You are not your bank account. You are not your khakis. We are the all singing, all dancing crap of the world..." Brad Pitt takes us on a crazy ride of self discovery, and we can't help but identify with Edward Norton's struggle to keep up with it all. And the PSA's in the bonus features are almost worth the purchase alone...
Home of the BraveHome of the Brave
Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $0.55
Watch a group of veterans return home from Iraq. The fifteen minutes of action in the beginning is intense and only the exposition of a very human drama that hits close to home.
Serenity (Collector's Edition)Serenity (Collector's Edition)
Buy new: $19.99 / Used from: $13.20
Orson Scott Card has said if Ender's Game can't be done justice as a film, he'd just go back and watch Serenity again. It's a film with eleven characters and nine actors. Yes, one of the characters is an inanimate object. Funny how those keep popping up on this list... You don't even need to have seen Firefly in order to enjoy the film, but it does help.
Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang (Widescreen Edition)Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang (Widescreen Edition)
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $1.48
Petty crook turned poser-actor. Gay detective turned mentor. And in a chainsaw and a lost finger, though the two items don't really connect in any central story elements they allow me as a narrator to kind of ramble on in much the same way as the Robert Downy Jr. does throughout the film. The whole thing is off kilter, off center, in my DVD player as this is being written.
Dogma (Special Edition)Dogma (Special Edition)
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $2.82
This film takes toilet humor to all new levels, while at the same time finding the time to actually say more than a few intelligent remarks about religion. Snoogans.
