Think 740 minutes of 'Se7en' -HBO mini-series for their Latin America broadcast. Brutal and mesmerizing with excellent character development that surprises to the very end. Just wish the widescreen image was formatted for 16x9 screens.

The original series as aired on German TV. One of the best war movies of all time and a look at the life of a submariner during WWII. This was the first R rated film I ever saw in the theater when my father took me for its original US release in 1982.

Kurosawa's masterpiece. Another film my Dad took me to see when first released. The silent battle scenes are incredible. Shakespeare was never done better.

Not for everyone. A small film crew follows a serial killer and documents his 'work'. Shot cinema verite style with high speed B&W film (very grainy) with hand held cameras. Very, VERY violent. Deserves the NC-17 rating.

My favorite John Woo film. A financial loser in Hong Kong that Woo always wanted to make and funded after "The Killer" made him an international name. Three friends since childhood go to Vietnam during the war to make some money smuggling. Gut-wrenching tale of brotherhood, honor and betrayal. Very violent.

Woo's light-hearted art heist/comedy romp that he made after "Bullet in the Head" Much fun with ridiculous stunts and action. Woo remade this story for FOX television after coming to Hollywood. Stick with the original.

Verhoeven's classic thriller, not for the squeamish.

Basically a Korean version of "Speed" except much better. If only Dennis Hopper was in it....

The devastating story of two brothers experiences in the Korean War. Compared by many to "Saving Private Ryan" Very violent and emotionally shattering.

Another one that isn't for everyone. Extremely violent gangster film from Japan's Takashi Miike. You won't look at tempura the same way again.

Referred by many as the Korean "Blade Runner" Wonderful visuals and an interesting, if a bit weak, story.

The 1987 Ringo Lam Hong Kong film that was ripped off for "Reservoir Dogs" Vastly superior to Tarantino's film in every way.

A four part ensemble of ghost stories. Very entertaining. Amazing sound stage sets. Based on stories written by a European living in Japan at the turn of the 20th century. My favorite is "The Woman of the Snow" Creepy and under-appreciated.

Juenet and Caro's film of an apocalyptic future in France where every commodity is short, especially fresh meat, which doesn't bode well for the tenets who live above a butcher shop. Funny and surreal. Not to be missed.

The tale of a aging hitman suffering from Alzheimers who decides to not complete his latest assignment because the target is a child.

Produced by Luc Besson. Amazing human stunts in this post-apocalyptic era action frenzy. Will make you want to jump from balcony to balcony.

Sequel to Jean de Florette. Basically the second half of a movie. Wonderful.
