Tenor saxophonist, Benny Golson is one of the finest saxophonists in jazz. He is also a prolific composer and has composed some of the greatest jazz compositions ever written like "Stablemates," "Blues March," "I Remember Clifford," to name a few. This album captures Golson in great form, but any Golson record is worth acquiring.

Modern Jazz Quartet were a great bebop band. This is their complete collection for the Prestige and Pablo labels. It remains some of their best work in my opinion.

Great bebop recording from bassist Curtis Counce. Some great swinging stuff. Good trumpet work from Jack Sheldon.

Charlie "Bird" Parker should be in everyone's jazz collection and I think this box set is the best place to start.

McCoy Tyner was at his best when he was playing for the John Coltrane Quartet, but he did some fine bebop albums with trio that were fantastic. I would also check "Reaching Fourth."

I almost completely forgotten about this album when I was collecting Miles Davis' bebop work. This is his first recording with one of the greatest bands in jazz history: Philly Joe Jones on drums, Paul Chambers on bass, Red Garland on piano, and John Coltrane on tenor saxophone. An essential for Miles fans.

The Sonny Clark Trio featuring Paul Chambers on bass and Philly Joe Jones on drums. If you don't know who these cats are, then you need to seriously start doing your homework. Great jazz trio!
