Teenage americana with a tragic bite, in thevain of "Rebel Without a Cause." Subversive tale - imparts valuable good sense: asceticism, devotion/loyalty, contempt, etc. Advertised as a typified, teenage snoozefest - anything but... Kristen Stewart is sooo angsty.

Compact, efficient moviemaking - stellar performances, direction, period setting - genuine story with the universal appeal of loss - how one remodels oneself - adapts, to pain endured. We can refine our quality, or let it destroy us - hence the title.

Sleek, intelligent thriller for the all-too-aware elitist... Kristen Scott Thomas is great to look at, as well. Really - one of the best thrillers I've seen in a long time.

For the film's sake, James Franco and David Gordon Greene redeem what may otherwise be, another dull, uber-ordinary comedy in the vain of every other Judd Apatow movie where characters never do one extraordinary thing. Simple, fun comedy...

Gus Van Sant sells-out, in a good way. Great ensemble - story is cut and dry, somewhat topical, washed-over. Intriguing, at best. Watch it for Penn, Franco, Diego Luna, and Emile Hirsh. More than enough, I guess.

Anglina Jolie IS sooo cool... need proof - watch this movie. Her performance is never ambiguous, coy, or anything but reserved and intimidating and hot. Presence alone would suffice for ludicrous sequences - which are still quite good candy. McAvoy plays this naturally... solid film, with a thin, smart undertow of idealism, and sticking to your guns.
