perfect baby toys for the stroller, car seat, crib, dangly-toy-gym -arch things. Been using these since baby was about 3 months old, and he's still playing with them.
Born Free BPA Free Wide Neck Bottles - 5-Ounce Twin PackBorn Free BPA Free Wide Neck Bottles - 5-Ounce Twin Pack
Buy new: $17.00
The bottle our breast-fed baby did best with, and we had to try a lot of different ones. The venting system is relatively easy to use and clean, and is effective. The bottle doesn't leak. The shape of the nipple has a nice roundness to it making it more similar to the breast than most others we tried.

Lots of great advice for the working mother who wants to breastfeed!
Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems: New, Revised, and Expanded EditionSolve Your Child's Sleep Problems: New, Revised, and Expanded Edition by Richard Ferber
Buy new: $10.85 / Used from: $4.44
We were reluctant to try, but now are now converts. Our son was 9 months old, sleeping through the night only 25% of the time & difficult to put to sleep. Within a week, he was only crying for a few minutes at bedtime AND consistently sleeping through the night. The longest he ever cried was 40 minutes, a lot shorter than we had feared.
The First Years Modular Drying RackThe First Years Modular Drying Rack
Buy new: $12.00
Small enough for the bathroom counter. Essential for breastfeeding moms who are pumping and having to wash a million small pump parts without losing them. I've seen others say not strong enough to hold glass bottles, which I would believe, it is a bit on the delicate side, but worked very well for everything we used, which was plastic (BPA-free of course!) :)
Medela's SoftFit 24 mm. Breastshields 2-pk.Medela's SoftFit 24 mm. Breastshields 2-pk.
Buy new: $11.39
Made breast pump a little more comfortable to use. Not *much* more comfortable, mind you, but every little bit counts when you're hooked up to that dreadful machine.
Chaney Instrument 00985 Wireless Refrigerator Freezer ThermometerChaney Instrument 00985 Wireless Refrigerator Freezer Thermometer
Buy new: $24.95
We put this in our freezer to monitor the temperature level on all the frozen milk I worked so hard to collect and pack away. Gave me total peace of mind the one time we had a power outage, I was able to monitor the freezer and KNOW sure it never got too warm. Signal works from freezer in the garage to sensor in our kitchen just fine.
Bebe Au Lait Nursing Cover, Eyelet BlackBebe Au Lait Nursing Cover, Eyelet Black
Buy new: $35.00
Great for nursing in public, or even at home when you have guests that you aren't comfortable enough with to let it all hang out, but you're comfortable enough to breastfeed in front of so long as you're securely covered. This was MUCH better than any blanket. It is a very simple design, but the simplicity works really well. I tried other similar nursing covers, this was far superior.

Weird little miracles that stick to your breasts, keep milk from leaking, and can be worn without a bra. I only needed them for the first few months of breastfeeding, but really appreciated being able to sleep without a bra when wearing these! I'm sure would be lovely for going out or whatever too, but I never went anywhere those first few months with baby! :)
Fisher-Price Zoo Friends Musical GymFisher-Price Zoo Friends Musical Gym
Buy new: $54.95
Nice compact size for one of these baby gym things. We eventually bought a larger one so he'd have room to roll over. But this was nice when he was very small, and would be a good design for packing up to travel with. The "tummy time" built in feature really doesn't work, so don't get it for that reason. The toys are cute that come with this, especially the little penguin that plays music.
American Apparel Infant Baby Rib Karate PantAmerican Apparel Infant Baby Rib Karate Pant
Buy new: $4.80 - $13.00
It's surprisingly hard to find nice simple pants for baby like these. A wardrobe staple that we keep buying in larger and larger sizes so he can keep wearing them.
Hello Baby PhoneHello Baby Phone
Buy new: $19.95
A lot of rattles are actually too heavy for a very young baby to hold. This one is perfect, and he's still playing with it at 9 months old.
Flipper Gripper RattleFlipper Gripper Rattle
More nice lightweight rattles a very young baby can hold. You can find these at Fred Meyer too. They are nice because they come in several different designs, with the same basic easy-to-hold rattle shape. We have at least four of these scattered around. Sassy brand toys in general seem to be very good ones for babies.
ClosetMaid 8695 6-Cube Organizer, MapleClosetMaid 8695 6-Cube Organizer, Maple
Buy new: $61.99
OK, these are not the highest quality bookcases, but the cube-style is very handy for storing all the mountains of baby toys and gear. We were also able to easily secure these to the wall with a simple "L" bracket from hardware store. These are sold at Target too.
RaZ-Berry Silicone TeetherRaZ-Berry Silicone Teether
Buy new: $15.99
Great for teething. Would probably be even better if our baby was one who liked pacifiers. But he still likes to play with this and chew on it, especially when his teeth are coming in!
Summer Infant 3 Piece Oral Care SetSummer Infant 3 Piece Oral Care Set
Buy new: $5.99
He can hold the toothbrush himself (although not yet coordinated enough to use it himself). And the rubber-tipped teething part of the set is great -- gives him something that he can get into the back of his mouth, which most teethers do not. But only OK for supervised use I think, because if he fell down while it was in his mouth I think it could hurt him.
La Leche League Hands Free Pumping & Nursing Softcup Bra #4105La Leche League Hands Free Pumping & Nursing Softcup Bra #4105
Buy new: $28.19 - $28.49
Look hysterical, sounds crazy. But if I didn't have this, I wouldn't have managed to pump breastmilk for going-on ten months. I didn't have this for the first month or so, and pumping was absolute torture without it. I seriously can't figure out how ANYONE pumps for any length of time without using this or something like it. A must for working mothers in my opinion.

Super interesting book, loved reading it, and I think it was helpful to us in learning how to relate to and connect with baby.
Super Baby FoodSuper Baby Food by Ruth Yaron
Buy new: $13.57 / Used from: $1.56
An interesting book, although it seems more complicated to me than is necessary. I had a tough time reading it, as it is constantly packed with cross-references in every single sentence. But skim it for lots of good ideas. Basically: cook food, puree food, freeze food in ice cube trays. The rest is embellishment on that theme.
Fresh Baby So Easy Baby Food/Breast Milk TraysFresh Baby So Easy Baby Food/Breast Milk Trays
Buy new: $12.27
We didn't have these specific trays, but having ice cube trays with covers for the baby food has worked well for us, so we can stack them up in the freezer. Great for being able to do big batches all at once.
Prince Lionheart bebePod Plus KiwiPrince Lionheart bebePod Plus Kiwi
Buy new: $59.99
Helped our son learn to sit up by himself. The tray didn't work as well as we would have liked, the design made it too close to his legs to be comfortable. So you could save money by getting the kind without the interchangeable tray, which we ended up not using too much.
Baby Einstein Seek & Discover Activity GymBaby Einstein Seek & Discover Activity Gym
Buy new: $169.99
This is the larger gym we got when baby was starting to learn to roll over. Too expensive. Was a good toy, but the diameter of the poles was too small to work well with infantino dangly toys we had, so we had figure out ways to keep them from sliding off. Maybe fisher-price ones would be better?
Whitney Design 01812 Six-Shelf Canvas Sweater OrganizerWhitney Design 01812 Six-Shelf Canvas Sweater Organizer
Buy new: $19.99
We use sweater organizers like this one in baby's closet. Allows us to store a lot more in there than if we tried to hang stuff up on hangers. In our experience, find the organizer with the LARGEST compartments you can find. We tried a smaller kind meant for shoes, and it did not work as well.
Rocking Wooden Moses Basket Stand - CherryRocking Wooden Moses Basket Stand - Cherry
Buy new: $39.97
Loved loved loved these stands. Had one upstairs and one downstairs. I suffered for two months dragging a stand up and down the stairs, it's lightweight enough to do, but it's hard with one hand (since baby will be permanently installed in the other hand).
White Waffle Fabric Moses BasketWhite Waffle Fabric Moses Basket
Buy new: $107.19
We didn't have this specific basket, but had a moses basket which we loved. Easy to carry around house, small enough to fit beside bed. I think this kind WITHOUT a hood is best; hood would get in the way when laying baby down? Find one with handles long enough to carry in one hand.
Nature Valley Crunchy Granola Bars, Oats 'n Honey, 12-Count Boxes (Pack of 12)Nature Valley Crunchy Granola Bars, Oats 'n Honey, 12-Count Boxes (Pack of 12)
Buy new: $39.00
Lived on granola bars for a couple months. Stock up on foods you can prepare and eat with one hand, and that are simple enough to figure out when you are sleep deprived. Make a shelf in your pantry just for your one-handed food.
La Crosse Technology WS-9013U-CBP Wireless Temperature StationLa Crosse Technology WS-9013U-CBP Wireless Temperature Station
Not sure what brand we have, but we got a wireless temperature sensor for the babies' room, and we have the base in our room. Now, we can see if baby's room is too hot or cold without going in and possibly disturbing his sleep. If you could find one that is backlit so you can read it at night that would be ideal, ours is not, or one with an alarm you could set for a temperature range.
Pyrex Programmable TimerPyrex Programmable Timer
If you don't already have a kitchen timer you love, get this one. Seems like we have to time tons of things now, not the least of which is breastpumping. Best timer I've found, easy to use, and has lots of useful features.
Lansinoh Lanolin Nursing Cream ~2 OzLansinoh Lanolin Nursing Cream ~2 Oz
Buy new: $7.05
A must for the first several months of breastfeeding. Also works as a great lip conditioner for baby, and since it's OK for his to breastfeed from you with it on, you know it's ok if it goes on his lips.
Lansinoh 20435 Breastmilk Storage Bags, 25-Count Boxes (Pack of 4)Lansinoh 20435 Breastmilk Storage Bags, 25-Count Boxes (Pack of 4)
Buy new: $18.55
These are the bags we stored all my frozen milk in. They really are better than just using ziplocks, although they are more expensive. But after all that effort to pump that darn milk, I'm storing it the best possible way, dammit.
Medela Quick Clean Micro-Steam BagsMedela Quick Clean Micro-Steam Bags
Buy new: $7.15
Handy way to steam clean breastpump parts and bottles. I have some reservations about whether it's safe to use the plastic in the microwave at such high temperatures, will it make some chemical leach out or something? But the convenience won over my concerns.
Medela Pump in Style Advanced Breast PumpMedela Pump in Style Advanced Breast Pump
Buy new: $299.99
The pump I used. I liked that the pump came out of the bag, made it a lot easier when using it on my nightstand at home, not to mention at work. The bag it comes with is kind of a stupid design, as is the freezer pack. But the separate pump was worth it. Wish I could have just bough the pump separate from the kit, but they don't sell it that way.
Medela Contact Nipple Shield - Small (20mm.)Medela Contact Nipple Shield - Small (20mm.)
Buy new: $6.99
We used these to help baby learn to breastfeed. The "contact" style has a little cut out so his nose can be near skin instead of only smelling the silicone shield material. Try different sizes and use the one as close to your actual nipple size as you can. That will help make the transition to bare breast easier. We had to get a smaller one than the hospital gave us.
ClosetMaid 8697 Fabric Drawer, NaturalClosetMaid 8697 Fabric Drawer, Natural
Buy new: $7.05
Use these with the cube shelves above. Great for toys. Also as a hamper for dirty clothes since not much room in his closet. Baby loves to pull over the drawer and look to see what toys are inside. We divide up his toys among six or seven drawers, and we give him a different drawer each day, to help keep the toys newer and more interesting to him. Folds flat for storage which is handy.
Graco Digital Deluxe iMonitor Baby MonitorGraco Digital Deluxe iMonitor Baby Monitor
Buy new: $86.99
Baby monitor is a must. We like that this one is rechargable. BUT, the monitors will NOT go overnight out of their chargers, the battery dies. It will alert you it's about to die, but that's not something you want to wake up to. Make sure you have room on your nightstand for the charger stations to sit. If not, get one that uses regular batteries.
Infant Stim-MobileInfant Stim-Mobile
Buy new: $19.99
One of the few mobiles you can find that has the pictures facing toward the crib, so the *baby* can see them. Duh!
